two days flew past and valerie had been ordered to return back to malfoy manor with draco for a meeting. the time was so close, just so close and oh was the girl excited.draco and valerie stood together in diagon alley awaiting for snape to arrive and apparate to malfoy manor with them.
the two sat in silence, with valerie leant against a wall picking at her nails and draco kicking rocks, the tension was thick. or atleast draco thought it was.
" have you really got nothing to say? " draco snarled and screwed his face up as valerie looked at him in confusion " what? "
a loud and frustrated sigh came from the boys mouth whilst running a hand through his hair " are you not worried? "
" about what? " valerie said confused. she generally had no idea what he was talking about, what did she have to be scared for?
" don't play dumb valerie. about the plan. the riot. it's close and happening? are you not worried or atleast concerned? " valerie almost laughed at the boys assumption.
the girl pushed herself off the brick wall and stared the boy down " draco. i have nothing to be scared of. why do i need to stress about something that may have nothing to do with me? hm. "
draco gave the girl a nasty disoriented look " look i get your cold hearted but cut me some slack- "
" slack? wow. grow up draco you are nothing but a peasant. a disappointment. a disgrace. why should i, give you slack if you don't deserve it. i don't care malfoy, i really don't "
draco shook his head, he knew he shouldn't take the girls words to heart but what if she was right?
severus snape came around the corner with a swish and carried nothing but himself " we shall apparate to the manor, where you both will be quiet and organised, understand? "
the two nodded their heads and grabbed onto the older mans arm before their location changed in an instance. their surroundings were darkened and the whole demeanor of it all made valerie feel safe in a way, the room they were in was filled with candles and the fireplace sparked. the eyes that kept focus on them were intensely infuriating.
valerie made her way towards the desk that held their lord. she knelt down and bowed to show that she comes with respect before moving beside the man.
"now, we shall discuss what needs to be spoken about and go from there deciding as to whether we will be successful in our plans " the dark lord spoke with a large tone of pride in his voice. the many followers that surrounded him were mumbling to eachother.
" harry potter is alive. he is beginning to grow stronger, he will not win. i sure hope you all are prepared for the war that will happen in the following, we will win "
a light smirk was plastered on valerie's face and she stared down the peers around her, their faces were scared and some were full of a hint of excitement. it occurred to her that some wouldn't make it out alive, nor fully recovered. oh how excited she was, harry potter. the boy who lived will be the boy who overruled.
the dark lord turned to the girl beside him and lifted his chin " you, valerie. will provide draco the proper hand of letting us into hogwarts "
his eyes turned towards the blonde boy who stared at valerie with a look of horror.
" now you draco, you must complete your task. you must kill dumbledore, if not, you know the consequences. he must die. he must not give potter the strength " the lord spoke with solemnity.
he turned and placed a hand on the girls shoulder making her look up at him " if you succeed you may, if you wish, be returned a few of your emotions to make you strong. but only if you succeed, is that clear? "
valerie blinked blankly before proceeding to nod " yes my lord, thank you "
" now let's finalise some business "
-
the two teenagers were now located in the young malfoys room. draco sat on his desk chair whilst valerie sat on his bed holding a book she found on his bedside table. the girl had her back rested comfortably on the headboard whilst her eyes skimmed the pages, the book she read was a poetry about the mist of life. it was filled with courageous quotes and poems valerie would have never expected draco to read.
" hey draco? " valerie called to the boy who seemed to be journaling at his desk, he spoke quietly and almost would have gotten mistaken for a hum " yeah "
valerie pointed her finger to a quote that was provided in the book " can i read you a quote from this book? "
the boy hummed and turned in his chair to look at the raven.
" i seem to notice when the stars lack attention by the moon, the moon doesn't shine as bright when the stars aren't around. the stars compliment the moon as do the clouds compliment the sun. do we all compliment our something? am i the moon or the cloud? "
as valerie spoke aloud, draco watched her carefully as her eyebrows pushed together and her head tilted when slowly becoming unsure in what the quote meant.
" what do they mean ' am i the moon or the cloud ' is it a feeling or a worship? " the girl asked as she crossed her legs, placing the book beside her and pushing fallen strands of hair behind her ears.
draco leant back in his chair and stared away from the girl.
" you really don't understand? "
the girl replied with a shake of the head.
so draco did what he rarely did, he complied.
" what they mean is, when having your someone, it changes your whole demeanour. how you smile, how you laugh and how you think. it does hurt at points in time and it can affect how you live your life when they aren't around but it all comes to pay the price. your someone is the person you love or the person you wanna spread your life with. when you see them, your heart beats ten times faster or you smile so uncontrollably and can't seem to come down from it. it's like a high, they are your everything and when they aren't around your dull and misunderstood "
draco knew that all those emotions would be new to valerie but when finishing he noticed the wondering face.
" have you ever been like that? " valerie asked staring the boy in the eye.
" like what valerie? "
" in love? " draco eyes glazed at the word love, he couldn't lie and say he hadn't nor could he say he had been. he didn't understand what it was like to be loved or how to love. all he knew was to protect, with a hope of being loved for it.
" i don't know how to be. "
