chapter four.

valerie walked carefree down the silent hallway, whistling a hopeless tune. a few amount of students were attending slughorns party and valerie was simply not apart of them.

she rounded a corner and found a certain blonde boy sulking nearby a window " oh child, what's with the long face "

a wide smirk spread across her face as she knew exactly what was on his mind. the boy stood up abruptly stared at her in such disgust " you. why did you curse that necklace? you knew that katie was going to touch it didn't you! "

valerie lowly laughed and tilted her head " oh don't be daft draco. i of course didn't know that silly girl would touch it, it's just a tad more fun now "

draco shook his head and began walking away but the girl didn't give up " draco don't you walk away from me "

the boy turned around to face her in anger " you do not tell me what to do and what not to do valerie! i was chosen for this! this is my moment and you do not get to waltz in here and ruin everything for me "

as shocked as valerie could act, she wasn't. she knew the boy would act out like this and the fact he thought he could speak to her in that way raised her anger levels.

valerie pushed her way towards him and grabbed draco by the collar, bringing their faces closer " you do not speak to me like that, you do not get to tell me what i can't do. if i wanted to get you killed right now i could. remember that draco. the dark lord chose me to make sure you don't mess up, understand me? he knew how pathetic you were and couldn't stand another fail caused by you as such, a failure " the boys face was filled with regret and his eyes glossed, he pushed the girl off of him and began walking " i found the room of requirement. "

" good. " valeries sparked and began following the boy to the said room and noticed his mope posture, her words must've actually hurt him. lovely.

valerie toyed with a green apple and leant against a nearby mirror, she intensely watched as draco was messing around or as he liked to it, fixing, the vanishing cabinet he supposably found.

" could you take any longer, just shove the apple in there and see if it teleports " valerie muttered but didn't get a response, the girl rolled her eyes and awaited for the boy to finish.

finally he stuck his hand out for the girl to pass the said apple, once grasped, he sat the apple in the cabinet and closed the door.

" harmonia nectere passus " the boy said with his eyes closed and valerie swore she heard a vanishing noise, the girl stood up straighter and awaited for the boy to open it back up " it's gone "

" oh well done draco " valerie grinned, patting the boy in the back " i guess you aren't as useless as you seem to be "

yet when draco spoke the spell to bring the apple back, it was bitten " well i spoke to soon then "

the boy turned and stared at her in distaste before throwing the apple across the room in anger " this is your fault, your distracting me "

" oh it's my fault? right, well i'm gonna have to keep distracting you until you get it right. get your head out of the gutter draco, use that sad excuse of a brain " valerie spoke clearly back at the boy and before he could respond the door flew open and in walked filch, valerie pushed draco out the way and hid behind a mirror making him be the only one found.

" malfoy. what are you doing in here? come on. out. " filch spoke and grabbed the boy by the shoulder pushing him out the room.

the night had blown by fine and valerie sat in the slytherin common room on her own with a glass of fire whiskey she found. the time read two in the morning and valerie presumed that everyone had gone to bed.

the girl hadn't heard from draco much that evening, neither had she bothered to look but she'd just hoped he hadn't been questioned as to why he was in the room of requirements ' by himself '.

valerie was never one to need a lot of sleep so it never really mattered when she went to bed, she felt exactly the same when she woke up. in one hand she held a half empty glass and the other was tapping the side of the couch she sat on, along with admiring the features of the common room.

her eyes followed the patterns on the walls and her face fell into a look of disgust when noticing a hint of dust " how disgusting. "

the girl stood up in her full height and started strolling around whilst humming a sole tune she'd made, it was quiet and fragile. it was horrible.

footsteps echoed behind valerie and she stood in silence once hearing the voice speak " why are you up valerie? "

the voice was harvey. valerie sighed and turned around whilst taking a sip of her drink, noticing the boys appearance. he was in a fill fit of green silk pajamas and he looked as if he hadn't slept.

" i don't know. don't feel like sleeping. " valerie cleared her throat and walked over to her seat, grabbing the bottle of fire whiskey and turned around offering it to the boy.

" want some? " valerie asked and harvey surprisingly accepted so valerie grabbed a glass and filled it up, passing it to the boy after he'd sat down.

" why're you up? " the girl asked crossing a leg over the other and watched the boy down his drink completely " woah calm down there "

harvey sighed and relaxed into the couch " i just stayed up studying. i've heard you a few times but i didn't wanna stop just in case i got distracted "

valerie nodded understanding the boy and swirled her drink around in her glass, watching it spin like a tornado " you know it's friday tomorrow right? "

the girl looked up to see harvey looking at her expectantly for an answer " yeah yeah. why? "

" there's homework due? have you done it yet? " valerie shook her head and harvey nearly choked " you haven't? what why? "

valerie just shrugged " i don't mind failing or getting detention. it'll give me something to do around here "
harvey just shook his head in disbelief and put his empty glass down " well i'm gonna head up. you should too "

" yeah i'll be up soon " valerie nodded at him, watching as the boy dragged himself up the stairs " hey harvey "

the boy turned and looked at the girl who was once again staring at her glass " goodnight "

" goodnight valerie "
