With my uniform on, I head to the clinic. Being a vet's assistant was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Obviously yes, the fact that the love of my life works there does help, but I must mention how truly passionate I am towards animals. I used to have a dog, whom I cherished so much so than when he passed it broke me to pieces, making me wish I had been the vet taking care of him.

So since I finished the dreaded university I started working as an assistant. Which is where I met my Jack.

"I'll never understand why you, by choice, work on Saturdays." Says Lilian excitedly. "Oh, no wait. I think I know exactly why you do."

"Oh please, I don't need another lecture about my love life." I tease.

"But I do need to warn you." She looks at me from her desk. "Sarah's here."

Oh no. "Seriously?" Lilian nods. "Why can't she just leave him alone?"

"Well, if I was your age I wouldn't leave him alone."

"True." I walk to my locker. "I'll see you at lunch!"

As I'm walking to my locker, I walk by his office with his door open and I take a little peak not having the patience to wait and see him until I notice the blonde curls blocking my favourite view.

"It's only supper." I hear the witch say. "Come on, what's so bad about supper?"

"Sarah, we're going in circles here." Says Jack, and I lean closer to see his expression. And then humiliate myself as the door can't resist my weight and flashes my eavesdropping to the people in the room.

Jack stands up. "Maddie." He smiles. Nice one idiot, nice one.

"Sorry I just... came... to ... say..." For goodness's sakes, say something you buffoon! "Hello." Stupid, stupid Madeline. "Sorry again, didn't really know there was anyone here." I turn to look at the devil. Her eyes seem to say they'd very much like to see me hanged.

"You couldn't see me at the door, having a conversation?" She hisses.

"No." I cringe. "Again, so sorry." And I run.

Why did I have to eavesdrop? What must he think of me? Why did she have to be here? That rat.

I go to check on the beautiful golden retriever. "How's my favourite boy?"

"He's not too good."

I jump. "So sorry about that, I swear I was not eavesdropping or anything."

Jack smiles. Ah whenever he smiles I can see God's biggest flex on mankind. "I know Maddie. Don't worry." He hugs me, and I know it means absolutely nothing but every single time, my legs go numb.

"So he's not good huh?" I ask, trying to distract myself from melting.

"Yeah, you know he hasn't been wanting to eat."

"What if we give him a treat?" I suggest, petting Kit.

He seems to think on this. "I don't know, Maddie. He's just out of surgery, I'm not sure whether anything heavy will sit right on his stomach."

"Just let me try one." I continue. "Please, maybe he doesn't want to eat cause all we are giving him are meals filled with vitamins which he probably can smell."

He still doesn't seem convinced, so I try again. "Please? Trust me? I hate seeing Kit like this."

He stares at me, and I get lost in his green eyes, so sparkly and beautiful, I can imagine how beautiful our kids would look with those eyes. I can just picture us perfectly, waking up next to those eyes and kissing him and...
