I wake up with a headache, that only increases remembering my shift tonight, and increases even more as the events of last night hit me. Ugh. I need my phone.
"Darling, Pennie's mum told me about last night." I groan as my mother comes in. "How are you?"
"Exhausted."
"Darling, what is it that you have against that poor boy?"
I stand up. "Mother, I know you not to be so vain as to completely disregard my judgement because this poor boy has the title of a Duke." I sigh, putting air quotes between 'poor boy' to emphasise my point. "The only title he suits is His Fopdoobleness." I lay back down.
I hear my Mother sigh, not wanting to argue. "Well it's already 11am darling, come downstairs and have your brunch."
"Already 11? Goodness, I must be so tired."
"Good news of today, is you're getting your phone back." Chimes Mum.
I stretch in my bed smiling at the thought and a yawn escapes me. "That's true."
She pats my stomach. "You could come to supper with us at Chatsworth and..." She waits a moment. "Maybe even talk again-"
I sit up. "Mother! First of all, I'm never talking to that man again." I walk to my toilet. "And second of all, I have the nightshift. So I can't go anyway." I close my door.
"Okay, okay." I hear her leaving. "Just tell me the full story after you shower!"
"I will." And I begin getting ready.
Sunday's are one of my favourite days of the whole week. Except maybe this particular Sunday, what with all of that happened yesterday and my turn for the nightshift, I love Kit and thoroughly enjoyed looking after the pets, but the nightshifts are always so stressful and not to mention tiring.
A flashback of the nightmare of feelings I had experienced shook me. Yeah right. Probably wanted him to stay as my punching bag. Douchebag.
"You look lovely princess!" Compliments my Father, hugging me.
George laughs. "Dad, must you really lie to her? She looks like an elephant stomped on her face."
"Ha Ha! Hilarious George!" I hug my Father tightly.
"Your dearest Mum spilled the beans about yesterday." Mentions Father.
I groan. "Papa, I wasn't the only rude one."
"I know darling, but remember to control your emotions." He steps back to look at me. "The first one who loses grasp of their emotions, is the one who loses the battle."
"Yes, Papa." I grab a scone and start spreading clotted cream when the main phone rings.
"I do miss Pat on Sundays." Whispers mum as she goes and picks it up.
"Hello." She remains quiet for a moment. "Oh, of course Pennie darling!" Says Mum laughing.
I walk towards her. "It's for you." I smile to my Mother.
"Hello goergous." I tell Pennie. "Spill."
I hear take a big breath. "Okay, so he's perfect but a little on the shy side."
"Hmm. Go on."
"He didn't even kiss me." She explains. "And I don't know, I think I scared him."
I giggle. "You mean your beauty scared him? Darling, perhaps he's just an introvert."
"And I'm an extrovert! " She exclaims so loudly, that I have no choice but to distance the phone from my ear. "I need someone more confident, someone who won't be afraid to show me how they feel, like genuinely, I couldn't read him the entire night."
