Chapter Fifteen - Senses

The night was warm and the half moon flickered light through the trees and down into the deserted camp. The trees blew softly in the calm breeze and the nearby stream trickled beside Beachclan.

Sparrowpaw stirred in her nest, unable to sleep. She lifted one eye lid open but closed it. The snoring of Spotpaw boomed around the den and disturbed Sparrowpaws constant attempts to fall asleep. She shut her eyes tighter and curled into a ball. Suddenly, a loud noise came from outside. Sparrowpaw flicked her fluffy brown tail and jerked her head up. She looked around the den and outside, nothing was stirring. She sighed.

I'm imagining it, I'm to tired. Sparrowpaw informed herself, but then she rested her head back down. She let out a heavy sigh and closed her eyes. But in her head, images of a dark cat near the lake flashed in her head. Sparrowpaw jumped up onto her paws. She tasted the air. Wolfclan!

Sparrowpaw glanced around the apprentice den. Why is nobody else alert? She wondered and pricked her ears. She listened as she heard the dark pelted cats paws hit the damp mud and digging her claws in so she didn't slip. Mistysun. Sparrowpaw nodded to herself and carefully climbed from her nest. She made her way through the nests and out into the moonlight. She heard her mother snoring gently in the leaders den opposite the apprentice den.

Sparrowpaw walked through the clearing, the breeeze rippiling gentlybthrough her light brown fur until she became shletered by the large oak beisde her mothers den entrance. "Mother?"

Robinstar stirred and opened her eyes. She looked over at her kit and sensed she was troubled. "Whats the matter?" Robinstar meowed worried, flicking her tail to show Sparrowpaw she is free to enter.

"Mistysun is out at the lake." Sparrowpaw meowed surprised, padding into the leaders den and sitting down by her mother. "Why would Wolfclan send out a lone patrol this time of night?"

"Well - Wait, how do you know?" Robinstar narrowed her eyes and felt the confusion flaming off the Sparrowpaws pelt.

"I, er, I dunno, i could just sense her, i heard her walking." Sparrowpaw spluttered, shuffling her paws nervously. She stretched her senses out back to the lake. The image was blurry, but she could see the she-cat sitting at the lake side, looking into the deep waters. "She is gazing into the water." She added. Sparrowpaw looked to Robinstar and saw relief flooding into her mothers face.

Robinstar licked her kits forehead as Sparrowpaw lay down by her mother. "I'm glad the Three are here." She purred quietky the Sparrowpaw.

"What do you mean?" Sparrowpaw asked. Her whiskers twitched with excitement.

"The Three cats of the prophecy," Robinstar leaned in closer to Sparrowpaw, "and you're definitely a very powerful and important part." Robinstar sat back up amd yawned, then gave a flick of her ginger and white tail, "You better go back to your nest." She meowed gently.

"But, what about the cat?" Sparrowpaw asked. She reached her senses back out, the she-cat looked around as she felt the intruder watching her, then darted off into the forest behund her.

"Just go to sleep." Robinstars mew hardened. She gave Sparrowpaw a stern look, so the apprentice followed the intructions and padded slowly from the den and into the clearing. She waited until her mother settled down and started to snore again, and casted out her senses again. Where is Mistysun? She asked herself.

Sparrowpaw started to make her way across the muddy clearing to the apprentice den, until a small hole in a bush caught the she-cats eye. Sparrowpaw made sure nobody was around. The shadow of the guard, who tonight was Spiderleaf, was half asleep. So Sparrowpaw quickly made a run for it and leaped out the bush. She landed on the other side and started to pick out some thorns from her brown pelt, then she looked ahead. I'm coming Mistysun! She thought to herself, then set off through the thick woods.
