Emma's POV
About at 4 o' clock in the morning, I heard noises coming from Lindsey's house. The lights went on. She's probably not getting up permanently. Just getting water or something. But time went by. A half hour. Maybe an hour. The lights didn't turn off. I sneak up to the window to see what's up. Lindsey is rummaging through her wardrobe. She has a cloth up to her cheek. She's attempting to brush her hair. She is pale. Obviously nervous for her visit with the king. She settles on clothes. A white dress that has a blueish apron-robe and a jewel necklace. She throws on a blue beanie. She actually has an elegant outfit on for a girl who doesn't know how to use a curling iron. Now it's around 7. I never fell back asleep, because I kept myself occupied. She actually brushed the spike out of her hair and put it in pigtails like hazels. I'm shocked about what happened at night. I don't know everything about Lindsey, obviously.Lindsey's POV
I hope I look good enough for the king. Not that I care. Just the guards won't let you in the court if you aren't dressed fancy. I hope these tests don't hurt me. I also hope the king doesn't pry too much out of me. I don't feel comfortable talking about the past. Emma's outside trying to catch butterflies. I hope she doesn't make me eat them, because I already have enough. Really. It's time to go. Really. I walk into my yard. "Whoa..." Emma says. "You look.. Whoa." I manage to force a smile. "Thank you."
