Part 5

Edie's perspective

I held out my hands and my father placed something fuzzy into my hands. It squirmed around and my father said "Open your eyes!" I opened my eyes to a small tabby kitten. I grinned ear to ear. "What's his name?" I asked. "You get to name him because he's yours." He chuckled. "Ok... I'll name him. Hmmm. How about Lupin!" I said excitedly. "Sounds perfect." My dad said smiling, I knew he was happy about this. "I'll call him Lou for short." I said. In the blink of an eye it was already Christmas and I was so happy! I of course got my sweater form the Weasleys which I immediately put on. Finally when I opened all of my presents Sirius handed me my last present. He simply placed a large barn owl on my arm saying "Merry Christmas." I smiled happily and named him Soren. After everything was cleaned up and the animals had calmed down me and my dad sat down to talk. "Dad?" I said. "Do you need anything?" He looked at me asking this. "Um yea. Can we talk?" "Sure sweetheart anything you need!" He said sweetly.
I talked to him about the whole heart flutter, blushing thing to him not mentioning Luna and he just smiled at me. "Honey this may mean you like girls. By like I mean like like." I looked at him confused "How will I know?" He replied gently "You will get those simple signals sweetie." I sighed. "That means I like girls I guess. Oh and one more thing." Sirius tilted his head. "I'm asexual. Not sexually attracted to anyone." I said. "Ok I'm glad you figured that out sweetie and just remember I fully support you." He replied. I smiled happy he understood.
Finally I got was back on the train to Hogwarts feeling better after the talk with my dad. Neville and Ginny sat across from me and Luna wasn't here yet. Eventually Luna came into our compartment and sat next to me which my my heart give a flutter, my face got red and hot, and my insides turned to jelly.
I introduced all of them to Lou, who was sitting on my lap, and Soren who was sitting in her cage at my feet. We talked about our Christmas and all of that but obviously didn't mention me and my dads talk. When we got to the castle we started off with the usual feast and I ate normally again which people were a bit more used to but still didn't know why I wasn't stuffing my face like last year. I walked to herbology and we were doing the usual clean up. After all of my classes I went out with Luna to the lake. We sat together the wind blowing her silver-blonde hair.
I decided to talk to her about the whole liking girls and asexual thing and she nodded while I talked and after I finished she softly said "I completely accept you Edie and if I'm being honest I like girls too!" I brightened up at that and we hugged each other. We decided to come out to just Neville and Ginny and they were ok with it. Neville was very happy For us.
Too soon it was time to leave and I would be heading back to my fathers for the summer. We all waved out goodbyes as we stepped at the platform. I hugged my father and soon enough we were home and me and my father were playing with Lou and Soren.
