For some of us this is a habit. Putting down others out of anger, annoyance or just for the fun of it is a daily occurrence. For others it's an emotional trigger. You try to avoid confrontational situations because you're afraid of getting hurt.
Insults are like thorns in the flesh to the recipient. You don't have a right to say bad stuff to people. Whether you're joking or serious it doesn't matter. Especially when you aren't sure of how the other person might take it.
If you know you're too angry or distressed to handle an issue take a deep breath or just take a break from it all together. Ask the Holy spirit to give you the grace to say the right words.
For the bible says in Matthew 5:22 - 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, 'Raca,' is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.
People can be annoying some times. Annoying to The point that you stare at them and wonder "What is up with you?" But as Christians we must learn to be patient and calm just like Jesus.
As for the victims of insults, exchanging bad words with people won't solve anything. Because the bible says in Colossians 3:8 - 9 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Words hurt. I know because of what I've been through. The tongue is powerful and not a weapon to be used for harm. A lot of you might be insecure, fearful, anxious or victims of consistent abuse. And the insults are only making it worse.
You don't have to despair because the bible says in
Psalm 34:18 – "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."The Lord sees it all. He watches all those who harm you with the words of their mouth knowing exactly what he will do to them. You don't have to let the things people say to you hurt you. They're not worth it AT ALL.
Remind yourself that you have a heavenly father who thinks good of you. Who loves you even when you're wrong. Who will never stop loving you and will never hurt you the way they do.
