The Overprotective ⍣ [Nalu/Gruvia]

✮. Lucy Heartfillia, POV

There were a few times I showed my face in the guild after the argument. But every time Natsu would appear, Juvia or Gray I would avoid them. Eventually, after three days I couldn't stand being in their presence without getting convicted. The guilt would eat me away every time I even heard of their names.

So here I am on my bed in the covers depressed and hybernating. I've been thinking about what I've done this past month and realized what an ass I've been. Days and days passed by as I sit in regret. Never stepping foot out of my apartment. Juvia. You can't possibly ever imagine how sorry I am. I'm beginning to think I never had a chance with Gray at all. I eventually ran out of food and was forced to go out to get more. On my way back I encountered Gray.

"Hi, Lucy." Gray said approaching me.

"Hi." I say looking around. I smile nervously. "This is pretty awkward." I said. Gray chuckles awkwardly as well.

"Look Lucy I'm really sorry for what happened and all the misunderstandings the whole time we-" I cut him off. 

"No, actually I should be apologizing. I knew Juvia like you and I still tried it." I say but, then I suddenly remember the note Gray wrote a few days before he saved me from Natsu throwing the table. "There is just something I don't understand." I say cutting right to the chase. 

"What is it?"

"Why would you reject me when you wrote me a love letter?" I ask seriously. Gray quickly made the most confusing face he possibly could.

"Lucy . . . I never did anything like that." Gray answered. 

⋱ ⋱ Flashback; third person, POV

Natsu tried to focus on the performance that was occurring on the stage. Usually, he would join his guildmates as they all make fun of Gajeel's singing his infamous, "shoo bee doo ba" single, however, Natsu seemed to always find himself staring at the celestial mage, instead. He began to notice every detail of her as he watched from afar. His heart felt like it was going to explode, causing him to look away and slump down in his chair, sighing.

"Hey, Natsu! What's up?"  Levy asked, joining him at his lonesome table.

"N-Nothing! Why would you think that? I didn't do anything!" Natsu frantically tries to cover up the fact that he was subconsciously looking at Lucy, only making Levy laugh.

"If you say so," she says, shrugging her shoulders and opening the book she held in her hands.

"I just noticed how you were alone and surprisingly, not yelling at Gajeel to stop."

"O-Oh. . . Well, I was just thinking about something." He mumbles, grabbing his drink from the table, and sipping it.

"Must be pretty serious." She comments glancing back in her book.

"Why aren't you up there dancing for Gajeel?"

"You and I both know this will end in a fight. Their already throwing stuff at him, if something hits him in the face then he'll—" on cue, Gray threw his shirt at Gajeels face, yelling at him to get off the stage and insulting his "upgraded" version of shoobeedooba.

Immediately, Gajeel leaped off the stage and throw his guitar at him. They begin to fight, dragging everyone in their area in it.
