y/n pov:

due to all the work we've been stuck to we, both jj and i had finally completed our paper work and was granted with a week off for a break. we both knew how stressful our jobs were, hell we've been together for so long yet work had stopped us from seeing each other instead seeing each other when we go to bed. we both saved up our money in a little piggy bank for when we had a chance for a vacation and here we are in our shared apartment packing in our room leaving for our flight in a few hours.

"when is our flight again?" jj groaned for the fifth time since he finished packing which was an hour ago. "in 10 hours.." i muttered quietly before letting out a giggle when i heard him whine. "we can go out to eat when i'm done packing yeah?" i turned to him with a bright smile. he nodded before kissing my temple and going to the living room. i sighed before looking up at the window to the sky. truth is, i'm afraid of height, acrophobia is what i have. i cant help it but always cry when i'm too high from ground. i shook the thought out of my head and zipped my suit case.

— time skip —

we were sitting in our seats with our suit case with us waiting for our flight to be called. i leaned into him with my face in his neck. "tired?" i nodded. he nudged my shoulder causing me to look up at him. "wanna get something small to eat? i heard our flight is gonna be called in an hour or two." i nodded once again and we walked to the food area with our suitcases.

"may i please have a chocolate chip muffin and two ice coffees? small please" i ordered for jj and i. we got our food and went back to our seats. i happily ate my muffin before hearing- "ding!" my heart drop thinking it was our flight until it called another one. i let out a long sigh before feeling eyes on me. i looked to see jj looking at me, concern in his eyes. "what's wrong hun?" he asked and placed a hand over mine. "i'm just nervous and exited.." i lied. he smile before placing my head on his shoulders. "it's a perfect opportunity to relax right now." i nodded and decided to take a nap on his shoulder.

i was awoken from my nap when i felt someone shaking me lightly. "jj?" i looked up while rubbing my eyes. "our was was called come on" he dragged me and our suitcases. the realization hit me like a truck and my legs began to feel like jelly as if every nerve in my legs were cut off. i shakily gave my ticket and sat down immediately tightening my seat belt to the fullest while jj shoved our suitcase on top of us. he looked down at me and raised a brow. "are you okay?" i quickly nodded before looking out of the window.

jj sat next to me and buckled himself up before feeling the plane move. i looked out the window to see the ground slowly getting smaller. "oh my god.." i muttered to myself and closed my eyes. i felt a hand on mine and whipped my head to see jj smiling. "i know your scared of heights and planes aren't the best for your phobia right now but i'm here right? i'm not leaving your side" he reassured me. i slowly nodded and looked out the window to see we were completely in the sky. i blinked a few times before feeling my eyes water.

jj quickly closed the window blind down and asked for some water. the lady came back with a cup of water and handed it to me. i chugged it down in seconds before feeling tears run down my face. "your face is too pretty to ruin with those tears" he wiped them away with his thumb. he brought my hand up to his lips and kissed it softly. "you can hold my hand as tight as you like, i'm not leaving your side." i took a deep breath and leaned into him. "promise?" he nodded before kissing my temple. "i promise"
