'he was a boy'

sam thomas left his house as usual to go to the skatepark. he plugged his earphones into his phone, placed the buds into his ears and played his spotify playlist as he skated down the street towards the skatepark.

when he arrived, he looked around for a moment. taking in his surroundings, then he saw her. the same girl he always saw. her dark brown eyes sparkled in the sunlight and her long brown locks flowed in the gentle breeze. she was stunning.

he couldn't help but notice how stunning she was. he couldn't avoid it.

he saw how happy she looked while skating with her red haired friend. he watched as she and her friend dropped in on one of the ramps and skated around for a while.

he saw how her outfit complimented the autumnal colours of the trees surrounding the skatepark. he quickly decided to actually start skating, so he dropped in on a ramp and started to skate around as well.

he skated around for a while, music blasting into his ears. he then decided it was about time to leave, as he was on his way out of the skatepark he bumped into somebody. the person tumbled to the floor.

"i'm so sorry!" he quickly apologised.

"it's okay!" the person replied, sweetly.

"here!" he said, offering his hand to help them up. he then realised who he'd bumped into.

"thank you." she smiled, as he helped her up.

"it's... i'm sorry!" he stuttered.

"it's fine, really. d'you come here often?" she asked him.

"yeah, yeah most days." he answered nervously, butterflies swarming in his stomach.

"us too, i'm surprised i've never really seen you before." the girl told him.

"well, i'm sam!" he greeted, holding his hand out for her to shake. then realising how awkward that was.

"i'm maisie!" she replied, with a nod of her head, awkwardly shaking his hand.

"so do you go to stoneybrook high school?" sam asked her.

"yeah, it's like the only high school in the area." she replied.

"oh yeah." he responded, defeated.

"sorry, that came off really rude. i didn't mean it like that!" she apologised.

"don't worry, it was a stupid question!" sam laughed.

"maisie hurry up!" her friend yelled from behind her.

"sorry that's my friend claire, i should probably get going!" maisie told him.

"ok, we'll see you around maisie!" sam bid her goodbye.

"see ya later boy!" she laughed.

she waved to him as she quickly mounted her skateboard and returned to her friend.

"you know, he's always staring at you!" claire told her as she approached.

"seriously?" maisie questioned.

"i think he likes you!" claire teased.
