04. the dream

Ben disappeared behind the walls and the gladers slowly put theirs sticks against the walls before starting to walk away without a word.

Newt walked toward you and wrapped you in his arms as you buried your head in his chest.

"It's okay. You know we couldn't do anything else right," said Newt as he rested his head on yours.

"Yes but... Still," you answered as you pulled back. You looked at him,"We'll have to go exploring tomorrow. We're going to do a meeting tonight, you're coming?"

"Sure,"

It was late night and a part of the most important gladers and you were all in the meeting room. You were standing in front of everyone, Newt and Minho next to you.

"So, what are we gonna do tomorrow?" asked Gally

"I propose that we go see what's out there," answered Minho.

"That's for sure. But you can't go alone," you said "Alby and I are going with you,"

Newt raised his eyebrows "Wait, what? Why you?"

"Because I'm kinda the first one who arrived here,"

"No way you're going in there"

"And why not?"

"Because.." Newt started, looking for his words.

You were still looking at him when Gally started talking, "Why did Ben tell you that anyway?"

You turned to him "I don't know... How would I? He has been stung he was probably hallucinating,"

"Why would he say it's your fault?" asked another gladder

"Listen I don't shucking know. And if it was the case I would have told you. Now is not the time,"

Gally didn't say anything and nodded
"So tomorrow, when the day comes up, we'll meet in front of the doors is that good for you two?" asked Minho to Alby and you.

"Good," you said and got out of the room.

As you were walking toward your room, someone called for you.

"What is it Newt?" you asked your best friend who appeared next to you. You continued walking when he stood in front of you.

"Hey wait. I can't let you go out there," he said with an unusual seriousness.

"What? Why not?"

"Because I don't want you to be hurt or worse,"

"Don't worry it'll be fine," you said as you walked around him and made your way back to your room. Before you could go further, Newt grab your arm and pulled you back.

"I'm serious Y/n, I don't want you to go in the maze. It's too dangerous,"

"Look Minho and Alby will be here. And why wouldn't you want me to anyway? Remember I was the first one who went in, and I've done it several time,"

"But..it's different this time. It's more dangerous. I can come with you,"

You got yourself out of his grip
"Newt we both know that you can't... And I can protect myself alright. Now if you mind I would like to sleep I have to wake up early tomorrow," you said and you walked away, not letting him time to argue.
