Your POV

I walked into the 118,  with a duffel bag on my shoulder, I was officially a Paramedic Firefighter. I walked up the stairs. I walked over to the table where a few were sitting.

"Excuse me? I was told to report to Captain Nash." I say a bit nervously. I looked at the table, and I froze in my spot seeing Buck staring at me.

"That's me, you must be (y/n) (y/l/n)." He says standing up to shake my hand. I smile and nod my head.

"Yes that would be me sir, everyone calls me (y/n/n), is it always like this?" I ask gesturing to the food.

"When Captain Nash is driving in the seat, yes it is, come on take a seat, I'm Chimney." I nod my head and sit down next to Bobby across from Buck.

"Well let me introduce you to the group before we go on a call, thats Hen you're sitting next too, Chimney you know, Eddie is that one, and then-."

"Hi Buck." I say. Buck nods his head.

"You know him? Personally or from the news?" Eddie asks.

"Personally." I say.

"Excuse me." Buck says standing up from the table and walking away. I watch him go then look back at the others.

"I haven't seen him like that since Abby..." Hen says. I look down at the plate of food.

"Excuse me, I should go change before we get a call." I stand up and walk downstairs to the locker room. I lean against the lockers after I got changed. I left the locker room and sat down on a bench. I had my phone in my hand.

"So what's the story?" I look up to see Hen standing there.

"What?" I ask. She sits down on the bench next to me.

"Between you and Buck, could cut the tension with a knife." Hen says.

"I... We dated in high school Freshman year to Senior year, even after we graduated we were dating, then he tried the Navy, wasn't for him. He then wanted to be a firefighter. He applied in Pennsylvania, but they wanted to move him out here. So I made him leave, I told some huge lie that I didn't love him anymore. I needed him to have a reason to hate me to want to run so far away... I didn't know he was in the 118 if I did I would've never joined." I say.

"So you pushed your feelings aside because of his dreams?" Hen asks. I nod my head.

"All he wanted after the Navy's was to be somebody, to do good in the world. When he became a firefighter, and was called out here. It was like his dreams were coming true, I wasn't gonna hold him back."

"Well, how did you become a firefighter paramedic?" Hen asks.

"Shortly after Buck left. I was walking down a path in the park we would always walk, two stray bullets got me, their work kept me alive, but how they treated me, made me feel safe, without even knowing me... That's how I survived. From then I wanted to become one, I left college. Trained, and now I'm here." Hen walks off.

-Time Jump-

A huge earthquake hit. We arrive on site to where we needed. We are directed to where a guy is laying against a window. Buck and Eddie were sent there, the others and I were sent to another part, we got the boy out then I saw the girls shoe, and I tried yelling for her, we figured out it was the missing girls shoe. I ended up falling when an aftershock happened. I was with another firefighter who wasn't even supposed to be working since it was his day off, my radio wasn't working, great. First day is going great, we had our medical bags with us, I tried to help him but he passed away.
