Chapter 7 - Welcome Back

Your POV

I was allowed back to work. I walked in with a duffle bag on my shoulder. I walked to my locker, everyone was upstairs eating. So they didn't hear me come in, I'm glad there wasn't a huge welcome back party. I don't think I could handle that. I got changed than walked upstairs. Eddie spotted me first. 

"(Y/n)!" He says standing up and running over to me picking me up giving me a huge hug spinning me around. He puts me down. I laugh a bit. 

"Hey Eddie." I say.

"Bobby why didn't you tell us she was coming back?" Hen says. She was giving me a quick hug. 

"I was told no big welcome back party, but that doesn't mean you don't get any cake." I walk over to the table and he brings over an ice cream cake and I smiled. 

"Thank you Bobby, it's good to be back." I say. He gives me a hug. Then Chimney does, when Buck goes to give me a hug I walked over to grab a plate. He looked away as everyone looked at us confused. We all eat some cake before putting it back in the freezer when the bell went off. It was a train derailment. I was told to go with Eddie and Buck when we get there, some lady is yelling at some firefighters, so Eddie and I go over while Buck spoke with Bobby about something. 

"Ma'am I'm sorry we can't let you inside." Eddie says.

"It's too dangerous." I add on. 

"I know it's dangerous. I need to get up in that car." She says.

"We hear you. I'm sorry." I say. 

"Wait, are you from the 118?" She asks. 

"Yeah." Eddie and I say at the same time. 

"Abby?" I hear Buck. I look between Abby and Buck. 

"Buck." She says. Eddie and I look between Buck and Abby. I was getting angry. 

"Wait you were on the train." I could instantly hear the worry in his voice. 

"Yeah I gotta-" 

"We need to get you checked out." He says 

"No, no, no I'm fine. I need to get up there." She says pushing past Buck walking forward. Eddie and I stood there. I was holding his hand I didn't even realize I grabbed it. 

"Abby- What? No that's crazy! No no Abby stop!" He yells. I step back. He's never yelled before, and even though it's not directed towards me, I was scared. But Eddie never let go of my hand. 

"I'm trying to find somebody!" She yells back. He leaned back at her yelling. Come to find out she was engaged. And he was in the top car that wasn't secured yet so it was even more dangerous than the other ones. We find out his name, what he looks like. Buck said we'd find him. We get up. We manage to get into the train, I kept radioing down to Bobby every black tag. We find him, than we find another girl. She had more of a chance than the guy. So we had to choose, Buck didn't like that. 

"You're right we can't move the beam it's steal, but the skin on this thing is stainless, thats much thinner. I could go outside, cut a piece out. Pull the girl through and that will buy us enough room to save Sam." I say. 

"No, this car hasn't been secured, that's why we're working on the inside. If this thing topples we can ride it down. But if you're on the outside-" Bobby starts. 

"Yeah. I know. I will be crushed by a 100 tons of train car, and that's a hell of a lot heavier than a fire truck but Bobby-" 

"(Y/n) stop! I know Buck made a promise, and you want to help him keep that promise." Eddie says.
