Muddy Secrets

A very sharp looking woman with strict fashion looked down at us all. My stomach flipped as she reminded me of my mother she waved her hand which was an instruction to follow her. I gripped onto Ginny's cloak as we blindly followed her to where we were meant to go. It was a dusty old chamber where hardly anyone could comfortably stand in.

"Welcome first years to Hogwarts I'm professor McGonagall " McGonagall smiled briefly before rambling about us getting sorted into our house which was "very important" Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff + Slytherin . They sounded interesting but in the moment my heart was beating so fast I could hardly hear anything else. I patted down my skirt which was slightly wrinkled from the boat ride and waited to be lead in. Me and Ginny were silent probably from nerves.

When McGonagall returned I was sure all colour had drained from my face what was going to happen? We got into a line and entered the great hall.

A gasp couldn't be stopped from being expressed floating candles were everywhere,ribbons of colour red,green,blue + yellow and the twinkling of stars were enchanted on the ceiling. It was such a cosy pretty place to be. Looking around at the tables I started to panic, I couldn't see Ron or Harry anywhere by the looks of it Hermione was also scared. She was fussily focused and scribbled onto work she must have magically found on the first day.

Names were called and one by one each first year made there way to the talking hat some with fear others with false confidence . I'd prefer to look confident even though I was completely panicked "Emily Dursley" I marched to the hat quickly placing myself on to the stool.

"Where to put you what to do with you?....creative I see, but also brave its why your here but....you have a need to prove yourself no matter what it takes! you're determined it better be.....
SLYTHERIN!"

I looked up to the green banners and the house was cheering the loudest I stepped off the stool and quickly walked over to my house and took a seat.
I didn't bother to hear much of the rest just clapping with the other Slytherins when a new person was added to the table. Only when Luna was called did my interest rise sadly she was a Ravenclaw but I guess that'd be more acceptable to talk to. This house seemed to truly hate Gryffindor they're constantly hissed or booed at by this table.

Ginny was called and I almost stood up out my seat. My eyes pleading for someone I know to join me but as soon as she met my pale green gaze she turned away.... "GRYFFINDOR!!"

My shoulders slumped as the sorting continued I decided to just contemplate everything while staring at my plate. Why did I want to come here so bad when even here I'm alone....
Just as I was getting lost in thought food suddenly popped into view causing me to jump.
"I cant believe it" I mumbled in shock "how?" With that a girl next to me giggled as she helped herself to chicken and roasts "magic silly" I let out a humorous sigh "obviously I know that" facing her putting on my best smile "Emily Dursley you are?"

Her face was stuffed and I couldn't make out a word so waited for her to repeat herself grabbing myself some chicken which was incredibly delicious!! "Lilah Marcy I'm a "half blood" what about you?"
I bit my lip and looked up at her bright red tinted face covered in freckles which clashed with her messy dirty blonde hair

"Muggle born"
I grumbled and she made a noise of disgust
"you're in Slytherin no matter blood status you should be proud of yourself!
A witch is a witch no matter the blood its why you are here as a half blood who really cares?"

Before I could reply she huffed and continued on
"and if they do they're just sensitive scaredy cats and aren't determined to make possitive change!" She darted her head around as if asking to be told she was wrong. No one uttered a word in response so I took it possitively letting out a breathe of relief I didn't realise I was holding.
