Muddy Secrets

On the last day of the holidays we went shopping for the Weasleys school supplies. I wanted to stay behind but they insisted on buying me what I needed which felt way to giving I couldnt thank them enough. We were looking around with Hermione as we decided to meet sadly Harry was no where to be seen I hope I can see him at some point on the train....

That's when Ron and Hermione began screaming his name I spun round quickly  noticing the familiar mop of dark hair messily in view. Obviously by the quidditch shop. I slowly paced over pulling him into a bone crushing hug "Harry its good to see you!" 

He hugged back happily "you too Emily" slowly I stood back next to Ginny brushing out my outfit so it didn't crease. letting the Harrys friends talk for the first time they could in ages. Me and Ginny noticed our bracelet tightly secured around his right hand which made me relieved im glad he liked it enough to actually wear it. That's when harry suddenly called my name rushing over Hermione and Ron following looking rather sad did I do something? 

"why didn't you tell anyone it was your birthday a day after Harrys" My face began to burn I probably looked so embarrassed Ginny also looked very upset and no one was speaking. They're all waiting for an answer and I wish I could steal Harrys invisibility cloak he talks about. "I'm not really fussed about my own birthday...." I mumbled looking at my feet my green shoes moving uncomfortably "I forgot" 

Silence continued for a while longer and then Harry broke it "I understand its ok we can celebrate it however you want!" I breathed in with relief hugging my school supplies nodding happily "least let me buy you something though!" Harry added at last minute causing me to laugh giving an awkward nod for yes as I was dragged into an animal full shop. 

Suddenly Ron took out his ridiculous excuse for a pet rat. Shaking my head I looked around the shop at the beautiful owls down to the toads and cats I've never been much of a fan of toads too slimy. Same goes for owls a lot of work though it was nice to be able to message people but then again Harry would let me steal his if I needed to or Lilah who has a barn owl I should really ask her what their name is. Then I seen one of my favorite animals a beautiful sand coloured hognose snake I've been fond of snakes ever since my brother was terrified by one at a zoo trip it was hilarious. They're beautiful creatures Harry is lucky to be able to talk to them...im almost jealous. 

I walked over carefully picking them up from their tank "hello what's you name?" I ask as I brushed its back scales with my knuckle. That's when I felt a hand on my shoulder earning a jump from me I moved my head to see Harry who was holding back laughter "wow thank you for being an amazing cousin" I stated sarcastically at first but then it slowly did become a thanks when Harry spoke to the beautiful snake for me.

"They do not have one but they would happily be given one" My grin must have been shockingly wide as the next thing I knew the snake was mine. Harry bought me them hopefully Hogwarts allows them. Hermione bought a cute cat too called Crookshanks I loved them as the first thing they did was attack Scabbers Ron's horrid rat. Personally if Crookshanks or my Snake snake does not succeed in terrorizing that rat id be rather sad. After hours of thought I named the snake Sev. As Harry suggested it probably as a mean mock to Snape but I agreed as most likely it would mean Snape would let me keep it as it would give them an ego boost.

Harry wouldn't talk about my parents treatment while I was there so I knew something worse than usual happened. On top of this Percy another one of Ron's and Ginny's older brothers was being plainly a snob to the point id rather eat bugs than put up with him any longer. Fred and George egging perfect Percy to act even worse didn't help. So to relax I excused myself from dinner to go into mine, Hermione's and Ginny's room and put Sev into their tank getting my stuff packed for tomorrow with my school books and clothing. They all followed a while after probably also trying to rest before busy day tomorrow for a while we all fussed over Crookshanks who seemed to enjoy the attention. However even though it was so early I drifted off to sleep....
