Jamie still couldn’t believe he was here.

Taking over the nerd project for Mrs. Ross was a dream come true.

He was also nervous because he didn’t want to let her down.

She assured him that he would do a great job.

Mr. Jax is in remission he had throat cancer so they decided since life is so short to take a second honeymoon.

They really deserved it after the year that they had.

Mrs. Ross assured Jamie that she would stop by whenever he needed her, and to meet her kids.

Once he read the files of his students he realized he just might have his hands full.

Of course he wouldn’t go by these files because nothing is like it seems.

These kids deserved the benefit of the doubt.

These kids of course had a lot of problems.

That’s why they were sent to the nerd project after all.

He just hoped he didn’t fail them or Mrs. Ross.

If it wasn’t for her and the nerd project he wouldn’t be where he was today.

She never gave up on me.

Now I am the man I never thought I could be.

I had an amazing wife, and two beautiful children.

I am a college graduate that is now teaching at the very college I never thought I would graduate from.

My life did a complete 180 after the project.

I want that for each student that walks through my door.

They start with a clean state the moment they enter the door.

We all have a past, but we should never have to be defined by it.

That’s what makes this nerd project so successful.

We never judge them based on who they were, but embrace who they want to become.

For most this is their last chance.

I just hope they embrace this chance.

I know at first they won’t.

They will hate me, and everything the nerd project stands for.

I did to at first.

I thought I didn’t need help, or that I didn’t deserve it.

I can relate to these kids.

I think that will help make the nerd project even more of a success.

So many people wanted to cancel it until the school board took notice.

Now we are a program with funding and everything.

I have even traveled to other schools that are now starting their own nerd projects.

It’s an awesome feeling to be a part of something that has helped so many.
