Chapter 9: Interuptions and Partings

Really quick I just want to thank you all for all the positive feedback with this story. I never thought it would get more than 100 something views, so thank you all. Second, I wanted to apologize for being so late. I've been super busy this couple of months but it's settled down a little. So with that, enjoy.

After your kiss, you grin and hug him. "Edward, thank you for all you do for me. No one has ever done and sacrificed so much for me."

Edward smiles wryly. "Don't mention it. I love you (y/n), so why wouldn't I sacrifice and do things for you? I'm positive that me and you can make it until the very end. It's you and me against the world."

"I agree completely. Wait Edward, is something wrong? You look.. worried." you ask reluctantly.

He pulls you in for a hug as he strokes your hair. "Listen, there's something that I really need to take care of. Making sure that you're safe is at the top of my priority list, so this is something I have to do. You understand, right? It can become very dangerous, so stay out of it."

You push him away and tears start to form. 'Don't cry, don't be weak in front of him,' you think. "At least tell me where you're going, please. I'm begging you... don't just leave me like this! Or take me with you! I can't be alone again.."

He sighs loudly. "Listen, after I do this I will for sure know that you're safe. We won't have to worry about anyone hurting you again. I can't let them arrive here. If that happens, it's over."

"You're leaving out important details, Edward. Who's 'them'? Why are 'they' so interested in me?"

"It's not even that you're an interesting subject to them, it's just they want to try and destroy me. Mentally and physically. Plus you won't be alone, Alphonse will be here as well."

While folding your arms, you look him dead in the eye. "Edward, who are these people?"

"Don't mistake them for people, because they aren't. They're called homunculi."

"What are homunculi?" you ask, a little scared for your answer.

"Well.. how do I put it without confusing you too much. There are seven of them. Do you know why?"

"I'm sorry but I don't. I really wish I knew so that I could be more useful to you.."

"Now stop that (y/n). You're one of the best things that have ever happened to me. With your (e/c) eyes and beautiful smile, what more could I want? You're always there for me, and I love you. And because I love you is the reason I don't want you going. I need you." he can't resist and he pulls you into another hug. "Oh sorry, I got of track. See what you make me do?" he grins. "Anyways, they are named after the seven deadly sins: pride, greed, envy, lust, gluttony, wrath, and sloth. And before you ask yes, they do act like their sin to some extent. They're nearly impossible to kill and they are incredible fighters. Homunculi a-" he stupa suddenly.

"Edward?"

"Did you forget? You've actually met a homunculi before.. and he didn't even use his alchemy and he nearly killed you."

"Oh.." you shiver. "What was his name again? Real name and sin."

"His name was Fuehrer Bradley, and he was the deadly sin of wrath." he sighs once again. "I don't want to leave you but you understand, right? You saw how powerful just one of them are. It's my mission to kill all of them before they get to you. (Y/n) please try to understand, this could be a matter of your life and death."

You can't help it any longer. Tears start coming and you hug Edward tighter. "Edward I can't leave you like this! I need you to live, and I need you to complete me! W-Without you I'm not myself, and I couldn't live with myself if you die out there. You know why? Because you're telling me to just sit back here and relax. Edward, I can't do that. Please, let me do something. Anything. I never want to lose you."

"I don't either (y/n), but this is a really serious matter. If you try to follow me or go out there you can and most likely will get killed. It's not a really good time to be running around in the open or in town in general. Listen, I promise I'll be super careful. You make me complete too, I can't lose it now." he smiles while looking at you.

"When are you leaving?"

"Tonight. I can't let them get the upper hand."

Your heart drops. "You're leaving.. tonight?"

"Yes, I'm very sorry. Don't look so disheartened. I'll be back as soon as possible. I love you more than anything (y/n$, remember that." he kissed your forehead with so much affection it makes you even more upset. "I'll be back as soon as possible." He starts walking out the door. "Oh, and once I win this little war, let's celebrate. OK?" he grins. You love how he can always stay positive even through dark times. "I love you, (y/n)."

"You better be safe, Edward.. I love you too. Don't be gone too long."

And with that, he left.

"He's naive if he thinks I'm going to sit here and watch. Alphonse!" you call for him.

"Yeah? Can I help you with something?"

"Could you do me a little favor?"

"What's that?" he asked, confused.

"You know Edward's mission with the homunculi, correct?"

"...yeah"

"Is there anyway you could.. Oh I don't know.. follow him with me? It would be really cool.. like I would go in your armor and then if he really was in danger, you could help him and I would feel a million times better knowing he's safe."

"I don't know (y/n), he told me specifically not to do that. But I can't lose him either.."

"Seems like Edward is too valuable for both of us, huh Alphonse?"

"It seems like it. (Y/n), we're going now," he commands.

"For Edward!" you both say in unison.
