Wednesday came by fast, and it was my final day at this high school. I made sure to inform my teachers that I was transferring and everyone, with the exception of the bitchy art teacher, Ms. Haynes, seemed sad to see me go.
After Art was over, Madison gave me and Anna Marie huge hugs.
"I can't believe you guys are actually leaving," she said when she pulled back from us.
"We'll still hang out," I promised.
She sighed. "I don't know what I'm going to do without you all."
"You'll manage, I promise. Everything will be alright," I assured her.
After the three of us promised to meet up with each other soon, we left the school and went our different ways. I walked over to the Tarc bus stop and as I did, and glanced over one last time at my now former high school, I felt as though I were closing a chapter in my life and was heading towards a new journey.
"You gonna miss that place?" Johnny asked as he and Helen waited beside me at the bus stop.
"No," I said quietly. "That place was okay, but I'm ready to move on now."
Thursday morning was the start of my lessons of the supernatural world. Despite not having to go to actual in person school, Mom and Grandma Marie still had me getting up at seven a.m. to go over my lessons, which consisted of reading through the many, many, many books of every single supernatural known and filling up pages of notes about all of the supernaturals I read about. At least I could stay in my pajamas and all I had to do with my hair was tie it in a messy bun on the top of my head.
However, it was not to say everything I was reading was not interesting. I read all the pages in the book, completely intrigued by what I was reading.
I was currently reading a section about vampires.
Like they were being portrayed in TV shows, movies, and books, vampires did have ultra strength, keen eyesight and hearing, and a thirst for blood.
Vampires could stand the sunlight, however when a human is bitten and transformed into one, the newly transformed vampire would have a burning sensation on their skin when they first stepped into the sunlight but it wouldn't burn them into a crisp.
Vampires could be born into the world, though it was a lot more common for a person to be made into a vampire. It was extremely difficult for female vampires to become pregnant and give a successful birth, but it could happen, and the babies that were born into vampires were treated with caution and care and were almost considered royalty due to being such a rare and desired gem in the world. (The textbook's words, not mine.)
Vampires could be killed with an aspen stake that would be stabbed right into their heart, as well as a stake made of silver. Vampires could also come into contact with viruses if they took blood from an ill human and while the virus has to be pretty severe for a vampire to be killed that way, it can severely damage a vampire's immune system, damage their superior senses, and they would need to get medical treatment as soon as they could.
Vampire saliva, which is what transforms a human into a vampire, could actually kill a shapeshifter or were creature (meaning werewolves, werepanthers, werebears, et cetera) because the genetics of shapeshifters and were creatures could not take the saliva. The saliva of the vampire in a shapeshifter or were creature's system was basically like the body being torn inside out. It was damaging internal organs, blood systems, basically poisoning the body.
