"Grace are you okay? What's happening? What are you doing?"
I came to at the sound of Dad's voice. It registered that he sounded panicked and freaked out. I blinked and my vision cleared. He was kneeling in front of me, his face close to mine, his eyes wide with panic.
I frowned and was about to ask what was going on but something over his shoulder caught my eye. My eyes widened when I saw every piece of furniture in the living room hovering in the air.
"Shit!" I yelled and scrambled to my feet.
"Shit, Luna!" I heard Johnny and Helen shouting as they stared around the room in shock and horror. "What the hell is going?!"
I ran my hand through my hair in agitation as I stared at the room, wondering how the hell I was going to fix this.
Dad stood next to me, panic radiating through his whole face, yelling at me to stop this as well as Helen and Johnny, all of their voices intertwining with each other, telling me to stop this and to do something.
As they continued shouting, I felt my anxiety rise more and more to the point I couldn't take it anymore.
"STOP!" I screamed and flung my hands out. As soon as I did that, a bright white light flashed through the room. The furniture immediately fell to the floor with loud bangs echoing through the room.
The four of us stood in the middle of the room, staring around at the fallen furniture.
"This is going to be fun," I heard Dad mutter under his breath as we took in all the stuff we would have to clean up.
The week blew by fast. Before I knew it, Friday had rolled around and there were only three more days left until I had my first day at Starlight Academy. I had gone out to meet with Madison and Anna Marie for their lunch three times that week and I hadn't seen that man from the warehouse once, which was good but I still had to keep on the lookout. And no signs of Lilith, which was good as well, great even, but I still kept my guard up. I would notice either Savannah or Ken walking up and down the sidewalk or both, watching over my house, making sure I was safe. I felt touched that they would do this when they barely knew me and I knew I would become really good friends with them.
On the day I met with Anna Marie during her lunch break when Madison couldn't come, we ate in a Steak n' Shake and invited Savannah to come over. Savannah managed to come in for a few minutes since her lunch break from her job was almost up and we exchanged numbers and began texting. I had asked if she wanted to hang out a few times but she said she was busy with work and school so she didn't have a lot of free time.
And there was no sign of Ed. I hadn't heard from him and he hadn't come to me in my dreams for weeks now. I checked every day in the book where he wrote messages to me but other than the previous messages he'd written to me, the pages were blank.
I didn't know whether to be concerned or relieved. I couldn't tell if this meant that everything was going to be okay, or if something was seriously wrong and he couldn't communicate with me.
I had no idea if anything could happen to guardian angels, but I was worried if Ed was okay. Could there have been some kind of power that was hurting or affecting him?
I had no idea, and I debated asking either Helen or Johnny, but I knew they wouldn't know.
I woke up that morning to get ready for my work --meaning research and copying down notes from the textbooks Grandma Marie had given me-- and ran into Dad, who had two suitcases back in his hands.
