It had been several months since Damon had taken down his vampire enemy. Katherine had fully healed from the attack, so she was good as new. Damon had even put their past behind him, starting over. Now, they were back together again. And that's what led them to the present.

Currently, Katherine was having a shot glass of Bourbon, waiting on Damon to come back home, having just finished her shift about an hour ago. It was dark outside now, so she assumed he was probably out having a human for dinner. However, she wanted him to be home soon, because she knew that tonight wasn't the best night for a vampire. Especially, one that was prone to getting his ass kicked by a werewolf. She didn't want to relive that feeling that she was going to lose him three years ago. Three years ago, she'd lied to him about never loving him. She always had loved him, so when he'd been bitten three years ago for protecting Caroline from her boyfriend at the time, she'd wanted to find a cure for his sake. It just hadn't happened that way. It had taken his brother sacrificing himself to find and get the cure to him in time. It was just luck that she'd gotten the cure to him in time. She knew if she'd been any later in feeding him Klaus' blood, he would've died on her. And that was something she never wanted. He'd always been special to her. He was her greatest creation, but also one of the few people closest to her that could hurt her in every way possible. Being human was a plus though, because as a human, and now that they were back together, he would never dream of hurting her intentionally.

Suddenly, when she had finished her shot glass of Bourbon and sat it down on Damon's drinking table, she heard a noise after hearing the front door closing. That's when she went to investigate, only to come across a nearly almost familiar sight.

She rushed to his side, as he used a hand to try and help himself stay on his feet.

"What happened?" she inquired.

"Some russet werewolf. I've never seen him before, nor have I ever seen a werewolf with two eye colors before," he replied.

"Axel," she stated. "That would be Axel. If his necklace gets broken, it'll make him vulnerable enough to be killed more easily. For now, let's just get you to bed. We'll worry about him later."

She put an arm around him and he let her help him upstairs and into his own bed. Then, afterward, she called someone that she never dreamed that she would ever be calling in her life. Especially, not for help or to save someone she loved and cared about.

"Well, well. If it isn't the bane of my existence. What is it, Katerina?" he greeted her.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I need your help. A werewolf enemy came to town. Now, Damon's in a tough spot. I'll do anything you want as long as you get him the cure. If it wasn't for my young, careless vampire self, Damon wouldn't have had to run into Axel in the first place. Please," she explained and pleaded.

"Well, haven't you changed since your transformation back into a human," he commented. "Don't worry. I have my mind on more important things here than to be coming after you. Your little secret about being a human again is ours and Rebekah's. My brother doesn't know about this, and I don't plan on telling him. There's nothing I want or need from you now, but if I do this, you'll owe me a favor in the future if you're still alive by then."

"Deal," she said, not caring what the future debt could possibly be. "Just get the cure as soon as possible," she added. "I'll be at the boarding house with Damon."

After she hung up with Klaus, she got a wet washcloth, before sitting on his bedside and using it to damp on his face, since he was already sweating. Considering he'd been bitten by a werewolf before, she wasn't sure if the twenty-four hour limit still applied. After all, she remembered how long it had taken Caroline to be nearly dead from a hybrid bite the first and second time. She didn't know if it would happen the same to Damon as it had to Caroline or not.

When it was wee hour in the morning, someone finally came to give the cure to Katherine to save Damon. Someone that had cared for Damon once upon a time, but had never cared about Katherine's well-being.

"Thank you," Kat said, once Rebekah had handed the cure to her. Then, without a word, Rebekah was gone. Kat then sat on Damon's bedside and forced the vial of Klaus' blood down his throat, saving his life.

When Damon woke up, he was cured, so he assumed that she'd called for Klaus' help, which had apparently worked on both of their behalves.

She rested a hand on the side of his face, glad to see that he was going to be okay.

"What happened?" he wanted to know.

"Well, I gave Klaus a call. He agreed that I would just owe him some day for curing you, so I didn't have to give anything up for you. And now that you're not dying, I think we should celebrate before the real battle begins. Don't you?" she informed him. Then, after telling him that, she gave a smile.

He gave a smile.

"Agreed."

A moment later, they began to make out in bed.

About a week later, Axel had been taken out without anyone else being bitten, so they both lived to see another day. And so, their lives together continued onward without any problems. They even eventually left Mystic Falls behind them, but weren't that far away in case any Originals in New Orleans needed their help at any point of time. After all, Katherine would never be too far away if her favorite Original needed assistance. And so, their lives together continued.
