"--and lastly, the Todoroki Kingdom has informed us that King Enji Todoroki has left on his return route to the Kingdom."

"Wonderful," Katsuki growled, trying not to sound sarcastic. This tedious meeting had been going on for hours now, since dawn, and the prince was beginning lose his mind, seeing how it was nearly evening and he hadn't been allowed lunch.

The ambassador to the Todoroki Kingdom seated across the table, Prince Shoto Todoroki, didn't look too happy about his father's planned return either. They had a... stressed, relationship, to say the least about the subject, and Shoto tended to avoid the king.

"Is there any questions Their Majesties would like to impose upon the council?"

Ugh, Katsuki espescially hated this particular councilman with a burning passion. It wasn't anything personal: he was just so fucking boring. His annoying nasally voice could make even the most vigilant politician drowsy. 'Cept maybe Iida.

Oooh, Tenya Iida pissed him off, too. He had been top of his class at the training academy when Katsuki had come of age, and so the prince's father, King Masaru, appointed him personally in charge of the prince's safety, especially... especially after what happened to Eijiro.

"The tip that 'Hawks' brought in," Katsuki grimaced, hating that sounded bored and all-too-eager at the same time. He was trying to cover any trace of his pounding, aching heart, but he was probably failing. "Did anything come from the search we sent to Andolis?"

The war minister stood. He was an older gentlemen, or maybe he just looked old. In his youth he had been a pillar of strength and justice, a terror on the battlefield, but a ill-treated injury had crippled him, leaving him confined to the palace. Personally, Katsuki suspected the Todoroki's of foul play. Enji absolutely despised Toshinori Yagi.

"Your highness," he started slowly, and the prince's hopes faded. The man was usually very blunt, and so the fact that he was treading lightly did not go unnoticed. "The team arrived in Andolis on the twenty-third of August, and have returned only this week. The building that Hawks described in his report had since been burned to the ground, witnesses say in mid-July."

In other words, they found nothing. Again. Not a single trace of the boy he had loved. Seven years of searching, and still nothing.

Katsuki's eyes narrowed. That time would have been shortly after the date the spy described finding him. Seven years of looking, and of all people, the Todorokis manage to find him? The prince smelled bullshit. Why, why had he even bothered to get his hopes up? "Is there any way to know that the Todoroki spy hasn't bullshit something in order to spark more conflict in this court? Hell, this entire ordeal with Hawks and another kingdom's involvement in my cour de cour is making me think your father may have my fiance, Shoto."

That seemed like a much more reasonable explanation for this confusing nonsense. The Bakugo family was one of the last remaining powerhouse kingdoms that had no lasting form of allegiance to the Todorokis. Trade agreements and peace treaties yes, but nothing that would really stop them from launching war. In other words, there was no submission plea, or familial tie. No marriage. Bleh.

"Katsuki, I can promise you, my kingdom does not have your boyfriend," Prince Shoto sighed. He was one of the few that dared to cut back at the other prince with sarcasm. "If we did, my father would be in a perpetual state of smug appeasement,  and not borderline apoplectic."
