Shang Tsung: Your plan is proceeding perfectly so far. Once you absorb earth realm into out world, how will we deal with Raiden and his forces?
Shao Khan: We will destroy the ones who will not submit. Anyone who chooses to serve me will be pardoned
Shang Tsung: And what of Rain? It is no secret he desires the throne
Shao Khan: I am not worried about Rain. But if he troubles you so much, you may execute him before his inevitable betrayal
Shang Tsung: As you wish, my emperor
(Soon)
Skarlet: You know, you make me thirsty...
Rain: My Edenian blood is rare, I know
Skarlet: So are the rumors true? You want to kill Shao Khan and usurp his throne?
Rain: MY throne. Shao Khan sits upon what is mine by birthright. I will let Raiden's army clash with his, weakening both sides. And when the time is right, I will-OOF!
(Mileena punches Rain in the face)
Mileena: Shao Khan will rule for eternity. You will die before you harm him!
Rain: I believe you are forgetting, I am a god
(Rain fights Mileena. Mileena is a bit more skilled now, but she was definitely not prepared for Rain's powers of water and lightning. Rain's godlike abilities gave him the advantage, letting him take down Mileena rather easily)
Rain: Foolish mortal
Skarlet: Should we proceed early?
Rain: We shall
(Rain and Skarlet split up)
(Rain is walking down the hall, only to be met by Shang Tsung)
Shang Tsung: Hello Rain. I hope Mileena kept you entertained while reinforcements arrived?
Rain: Reinforcements?
(Baraka, Sheeva, Quan Chi, and Noob Saibot walk in)
Noob Saibot: You will die for your treachery
Rain: It is not treachery to take back what is yours, ghost
(Rain fights Noob Saibot. Noob Saibot and his shadow clones presented more of a challenge than Mileena, but Rain's lightning attacks arc across multiple targets, so numbers didn't work on him. Rain is ultimately more powerful than Noob Saibot, so he wins)
Rain: Now if you'll excuse me, I have pressing matters to attend to
(Baraka tries to punch Rain, but he gets sent flying with a jet of water)
Sheeva: Of all the times you could have betrayed us, Rain, why now?
Rain: Blame Mileena. She sparked it. Now...
(Rain cracks his knuckles)
Rain: I intend to finish it
Quan Chi: (Laughs)
(Rain fights Sheeva and Quan Chi at the same time. Sheeva is the muscle of the fight while Quan Chi mainly relies on ranged magic attacks. Rain phases through a magic blast, and Quan Chi accidentally knocks down Sheeva with friendly fire. With Quan Chi on his own, Rain traps Quan Chi in a water ball, hits him with a blast of lightning, and slams him on the floor)
Rain: You would have been a valuable ally. But you have chosen the wrong side
(Shang Tsung teleports away)
Rain: He must be off to warn Shao Khan. I must stop him
(Rain races to Shao Khan to stop Shang Tsung, but he is too late)
Shao Khan: Rain! There he is! Kill him!
Shang Tsung: I have informed Shao Khan of your little plan, Rain
(Skarlet is all chained up)
Rain: Skarlet? How did you-
Shang Tsung: She did not put up much of a fight. And neither will you!
Rain: So be it
(Rain fights Shang Tsung. Rain has to counter multiple fighting styles because of Shang Tsung's transformative abilities, but he's able to keep up with him, no matter what he throws at him. Eventually Rain is able to gain the upper hand and take down Shang Tsung)
Rain: You did not put up much of a fight either, Shang Tsung
(Rain walks up to Shao Khan)
Rain: You are a false emperor. I am a son of Argus, and I am the heir to his throne. It is my destiny to rule
Shao Khan: Pathetic fool. Your half brothers Taven and Daegon had the same claims before I subdued them both. Now you will follow!
(Rain tries to fight Shao Khan, and he puts up a good fight, but Shao Kahn is too powerful, and he knocks Rain unconscious)
(Shang Tsung gets back up and stretches)
Shang Tsung: Shall I kill him now, emperor?
Shao Khan: No. I want Rain publicly executed, along with Skarlet, his accomplice. Make them an example of what happens when someone betrays me
Shang Tsung: Very well
(Rain and Skarlet are taken to the coliseum, where they are chained up with Kitana)
Kitana: Rain? Skarlet? How did you get here?
Rain: If it weren't for Shang Tsung's shenanigans, I would have had perfect timing for my attack. However, I was caught conspiring against Shao Khan with Skarlet, and we were both chained like you
Kitana: From what I hear, Raiden and his forces are in the way to rescue us
Rain: In that case, they are our only hope
Skarlet: They had better be good
Kitana: They are
