June's POV

I called Benny first thing in the morning. As always, he was there for me. He came over immediately and comforted me in the best way possible. I know this is cliche, but I seriously don't know what I would do without him.

In the midst of our hang out, I came up with an idea. An idea of how I was going to handle the situation with my dad.
"Hey Benny, do you think-" I would have finished my sentence, but I got cut off.
"Of course I'll go to the hospital and see your dad with you," Benny said.
"How did you know I was gonna say that?" I asked.
"I knew because I know you better than you know yourself," he replied.
I laughed. "You're not supposed to read my mind!"
He smiled. "I guess it's just one of my many talents."
I rolled my eyes and smiled back. "It has to be."
"So is Nancy coming with us to the hospital?" He asked.
"She'll probably come," I answered. "Maybe she will bring someone too."
"If she does bring someone, I bet she'll bring Bertram," Benny said.
"Oh for sure," I chuckled.
"Do you think they'll get together soon?" He asked.
"They have to," I said. "It's beyond obvious that they like each other."
"I know," he replied. "I give it a month before they get together."
"That's being generous, I give it two weeks," I laughed. Our conversation continued naturally. That included making bets on when our friends would get together. I knew I would win. It wasn't even a contest.

After a few hours, Benny, Nancy, and I all went to the sandlot. I explained the situation to the guys because I had to. There was no way I wasn't going to. They were my best friends. Not only did they deserve to know, but like I said before, they had to know.

The guys were supportive and comforting like usual. It was just like how they were last summer when my dad was being an awful human being. They had questions but that was expected.
"So are you going to the hospital alone?" Smalls asked.
"No, Nance and Benny are coming with me. I thought you guys could infer that," I answered.
"You know, now that you say that, that makes a lot of sense," he replied.
"Yeah, I mean I knew you were dumb but I didn't realize you that dumb," I said.
"Shut up," Smalls jokingly whined. I laughed and everyone else laughed with me. Even in my darkest times, I still kept my sarcasm. Trust me, right now is definitely one of my darkest times. On the bright side, I'm surprised there is one, I have sarcasm and the greatest friends I could ever ask for.
