"louis?"

"zayn?"

liam looked in between the two, both of them holding the same bewildered expressions. zayn finally opened his mouth

"what are you doing here?" he asked

"came for a visit. my sister's joining school here. thought i'd help her settle in" louis replied simply "what are you doing here?"

"i live here smartass" zayn rolled his eyes and louis gave him a sheepish smile

"what's going on?" liam asked

zayn sighed and looked louis before answering "louis is my best friend from back home. the little shit didn't tell me he was coming to visit" 

" i wasn't coming to visit . i came for my sister thanks " louis said sarcastically. liam immediately liked louis, he was very friendly and seemed that sort of person you want to be around and makes you laugh.

"i was just talking to liam here. he threw a giant ass snowball into the street. it was impressive" louis said when zayn let out a noise of annoyance 

"did he now?" zayn raised his eyebrows at liam and liam blushed

"just needed to let go" he mumbled 

"hey. i have an idea. why don't all of us hang out? we could go to the hotel i'm staying at. i want to know more of liam" louis suggested. zayn immediately agreed, though liam hesitated a little bit. but then he thought of it. here was this blue-eyed boy who didn't even know him properly, asking him to hang out and another hazel-eyed one wanting to be friends with him. for so long, liam had never thought of having any friends. he was scared, he didn't want to catch feelings, he was scared that they wouldn't accept him for he who was. but these two boys, they took interest, something liam appreciated with his whole heart. plus, he didn't want to be around his family at the moment and he wanted a get away from his thoughts. 

"sure" liam said. zayn's face lit up and louis gave him a tiny smile

"how are we going there?" liam asked louis

"we'll walk. it's just around the block" louis replied. just then, louis got a call and he walked forward to pick it up. zayn fell into step with liam

"are you gonna be okay?" zayn asked him 

"i'll be fine" liam replied

"what as that about anyways?" zayn asked. 

"can we not talk about it?" liam sighed 

"sure. what do you think of louis?" zayn asked instead. liam looked ahead at louis. he was talking in top speed 

"he's nice. he's very friendly" liam said 

"true. he's been my best friend since we were little. and the first one to accept me for who i was, a lot of people left me for it"

"left you for what?" liam asked 

"for my sexuality. i-i like boys" zayn said quietly. his head was down and his hair was like a curtain over his face. the moonlight created a halo over his head. zayn looked up. his cheeks were pink and his pink lips were parted. liam's breath trembled a little bit

"y-you like boys?" liam asked 

"yes. and i understand if you don't want to be my friend anymore, a-alot of people don't like me for it. s-so i get it if you want to leave" zayn said at top speed. liam stopped in his tracks. zayn stopped as well and turned to him. his eyes were wide and glossy.

"are you mad?" liam asked him incredulously

"wha-?" zayn began 

"what makes you think i'm gonna hate you for who you are? i understand. i-i also like boys" liam said softly 

"i- thank you for understanding" zayn said and laid a hand on liam's shoulder. his body gave jolt and he gave zayn the tiniest of smiles.

"what's going on?" louis asked. zayn shook his head and louis raised his eyebrows at zayn's on liam's hand. liam flushed and louis smirked.

all the way to the hotel, they talked about unimportant things
