(Meredith POV)

I have my hand on a live bomb and all I can think about is Derek. Ironic, right? "Is Derek evacuated?" I asked nervously. "Yes, he finished tuckers surgery a few minutes ago. He's downstairs now. I nodded and took a breathy sigh in relief. Dereks safe now. "Meredith, you have to do this." Dylan, the bomb squad guy said. "Cristina, go now." I demanded. "Mer-." She started. "No. Leave now." I said again. She just nodded and went towards the door and gave one last look. "I better see you in 10 minutes. Alive and conscious." She added. I smiled at the snarky tone. "Grey, are you ready?" Burke asked. I shakily nodded. "Nice and steady. Keep it level and slowly hand it over to me." Dylan said.

I wrapped my hand around the ammo and slowly lifted it up. I took it out of the patient and carefully handed it over to Dylan. He grasped the ammo and slowly walked out of the room. For some reason, I felt the need to follow him to make sure he was okay. I followed him out the door and watched as she slowly made his way out. I heard a small clicking noise and that's the last thing I saw before everything went black.

(Burke POV)

After Meredith took the bomb out, for some reason she followed the guy. I'm pretty sure she went downstairs though. I made my way downstairs through the elevator, when all of a sudden I hear a huge bang and the ground shakes. Oh no. The bomb exploded.

(Derek POV)

Meredith had her hand on a bomb. I can't wrap my brain around that. I just finished up tuckers surgery, which was arguably one of the most stressful surgeries I have ever had to do. But what scares me most is the fact that Meredith still has her hand on a bomb that can explode anytime. She refused to take out the bomb if I didn't leave. "Derek!" A voice yelled, pulling me out of my thoughts. Addison came up to me and wrapped her arms around me. I reluctantly did the same, wanting Meredith to be in my arms instead. "He's coming down!" Richard yelled. I joined the crowd of staff around the elevator, plopping myself right next to Cristina and her fellow interns.

Right before the elevator dinged, we all heard a Big Bang sound that shook the ground. Once the elevator stopped, Burke stepped out. Mrs Carlson, the patients wife, approached him. "Is, is he alive?" She asked. "Yes. Your husband is alive." He replied. She wrapped her arms around him and that's when I noticed Meredith was missing. I turned to Cristina. "Where's Meredith?" I asked. "I thought she was down here." She whispered back as Burke approached us. "Where's Grey? I thought she came down here." He said. We just shook our head. 'What if she was got in the blast and is injured up there?' I thought. Just thinking about that my stomach churn.

Without a thought, I bolted back to the elevator and hit the up button, despite everyone's protests. I stepped out of the elevator and found the hospital in shambles. There was dust and dirt everywhere, and there was a detectable red mist in the air. "Mer?" I asked as I carefully navigated myself through the rubble. I just need to hear a cough, a cry, something. I need her to be alive. I was starting to give up when I saw a small figure laying on the ground under a large roof tile. It was covering mainly her chest. I ran towards the person and knelt down, instantly knowing it was Meredith.

"Mer?" I asked. Her eyes were closed and she wasn't moving. I frantically moved my fingers to her pulse, which luckily was there. I pushed off the roof tile and  checked merediths pupils with my penlight. They were equal and reactive, thank god. I looked down at Meredith, who had a long gash down her cheek, which was bleeding quite a bit. She then moved her legs slightly, and that's when I knew she was coming around. "Mmm." She moaned. "Mer?" I asked softly. She opened her eyes and just mumbled something incoherent, which worried me. She was definelty showing signs of a head injury. "Meredith, it's me, Derek. Can you hear me?" I asked. It took her a minute, but she finally registered my voice. "Der?" She mumbled. "Yes. I'm here Mer. I got you." I murmered. She look me in the eyes and smiled slightly.
