*No one's POV*

Once again she checked the clock. It was already thirty past nine. Soon their shift will be over, very soon she can relax at her and Val's apartment. Just chilling in her bed and get some good rest.

Achoo! They can hear Vlaire sneezing for the nth time.

Vlaire's POV

" Vlaire you must have caught a cold," Valorie said worriedly, " You know what, you can take a rest in the room, I'll cover your shift. I'll take you guys to your apartment later. Plus our shift will end in an hour" Jake said

" yep we can pretty much do this," Val said. Sophie was not here anymore, her shift ended an hour ago so it was just the three of us here

Sophie was the new cafe waitress, she started few days ago that's why she has a shorter shift, her shift starts at four till eight pm but we do get along, She's nice.

I shook my head, I can't let them work because of me, I can't leave them here the cafe's real packed at this time, I can't let them work just because I may or may not have a cold

" it's fine, I can still work. I'm fine " I said, " No it's not and you're not fine," Jake said. Val crossed her arms "Vlaire we can do this, and could you just listen to us" she said sternly, I sighed

"But I'm fine" I protested, "You're not," Valorie said. "Just do as we say," Jake said softly yet in a stern way. I sighed, I just can't seem to convince them, Can't I.

" I'm fine, I feel fine," I said still trying my best to convince them. Val sigh " How can you be so stubborn Vlaire we're doing this for your own good, just rest," Val said

I sigh that's it I cant convince them "fine" I muttered. "Now go," Jake said. I took my apron off and placed it on the counter, Jake took it. folding it neatly putting it in the cupboard near the counter.

" I'm going, I'm going," I said raising both of my hands signing defeat. "Good " Jake said, I went to the small room beside the locker room and lay down on the mattress.

The room was striking. It has a white-colored canopy. Sophisticated royal blue paint covered walls, and an old-fashioned bed accompanied with a night table and a simple closet where the pillows and blankets were kept.

Taking my phone from my pocket checking the time, it was nine fifty. I placed my phone onto the night table.
I didn't bother closing the light, since I'm not used to sleeping with the lights off. Unless I'm with someone... Closing my eyes soon I drifted to sleep...

⚜🌕⚜

I woke up when I heard someone knocking on the door "Vlaire?" I heard Valorie calling me from the other side of the door.

I took my phone from the white night table, it was past ten. Finally, our shift was over. Gingerly I sat up feeling sick than before. I feel like the world is rotating.

Valorie then went inside the room telling me it's time to go and jake will drive us home. We then went out of the room. Jake was at the counter putting the tools in place"Vlaire you okay?" Jake asked " you look paler," he asked worriedly.

But then I nodded, I don't want them to get worried. "No you're not" Jake approached me then touched my forehead checking my temperature. taking me aback by his sudden touch...

I quickly removed his hand from my forehead almost too quickly. but to my luck he simply douched my hands like he doesn't need to try...it was too late

" you're not, you got a fever," He said through gritted teeth " I shouldn't have let those girls go easily" Messing his hair. He was burning in anger at the reminder of what happened before.

" I swear if those girls come back I don't know what ill do to them" this time he was fuming with anger. I shook my head " it's okay Jake that's not necessary, it'll go bad if you lose control and what will your fans think if what happen today came out" I said calmly

" I don't care, the point here is what they did," he said still in irritation " but that'll affect your image and your parents," I said reminding his dad who's running for the Senate position, and his mom who's a well-known businesswoman.

He sighed, Valorie went up to us she was holding a tray with cups and plates that had been used by the last costumers. They paid and left. Soon it was just the three of us " Vlaire's got a fever," Jake told Valorie " If they came back I will never let them go without a piece of what they did" He let out, Clenching his fist

I know it's not the right time to think about it since I should be worrying. But I just realized how Jake looks so good with his messy hair and his furious look but I must admit it was a bit chilling

Val sigh tapping Jake's shoulder " I know. But you mustn't do something stupid" Val told him. I don't know why but Valorie just doesn't seem affected by his state, she's calm.

" let's stop talking about those girls to lighten up the mood, shall we. And let's close the cafe now so that we can go home now to get rest from this occupied day." She said in an announcement like manner then clasp her hands together after delivering a sort of a sermon-like speech.

It was like hearing your mom's words and your boss at the same time. We all chuckled and closed the cafe. Jake went to the kitchen to wash the dishes and vessels that we used.

After some time he was done a little bit too quickly " what do you think you're doing huh? Jacob blake Grey" she said in a mother like-manner, tapping her shoes on the floor in a full strict look, Crossing her arms.

Like your mother did. If you arrived home late and or if you made something wrong in school and ended up being in the principal's office and your professor called your mom informing her what you did.

" what did I do? " Jake asked in full confusion "How can you wash the dishes that hastily. Are you sure you sanitized the cutleries and tools? You do know that sanitary and cleanliness is very important here. The safety of the customers is our priority. If this came out this shop will surely close! poor Mrs. Wilson" she said in sympathy then glared at Jake again

" You do remember why we agreed to work here right? " Jake nodded. We didn't work here just for a part-time job. We were walking through the streets of Philadelphia. Along the broad street past the Ave of the Arts.

When we saw an old woman being shouted at by a young customer. It was our first day of winter break. Along with Jake and Valorie we went out to enjoy our one-week furlough Without school works and stuff. It was two years ago. The first week of March. Just walking through the metropolis.

Past the malls, the structures, hierarchies. Walking through the S pen square. Past through a cafe. There we saw Mrs. Wilson who's that time was being shouted at by her customer. A young lady was shouting at her telling her how stupid and slow she is.

She doesn't have a part-timer at that time or someone to work for her. From then on, we always work for her full time to help her during our breaks.

To be continued...
