Please Come Back (Part 1: The Search)

Michael's POV/Narration
December 30,1988: 7:00am
~5 days laters~
Where could she be? I've called her a million times these past few days & she hasn't answered. Ohhhhh, what have I done?! And....... Oh boy! Today's her birthday! What do I do? I got it! I'll call her friend Riley, she'll know where María is. So I dialed Riley's number.
Riley: (on the phone) "Hello. Riley speaking"
Michael: "Riley! I need your help! Where's María? Oh.... And this is Michael"
Riley: "Hey Michael, and isn't María with you?"
Michael: "No, she left a few days ago because--- because--", I said and then broke down.
Riley: "What happen Michael?"
Michael: "We had an argument and--- and its all my fault. I accused her of cheating on me & lying to me.... Ohhh, I made a huge mistake!", I said through tears.
Riley: "Well, not to agree with you...... But it is your fault. Oh wait, I am agreeing with you", she chuckled.
Michael: "Riley, I'm serious. Do you know where María is?"
Riley: "Well, she may be at her house. I could try calling her if you'd like?"
Michael: "Yes. Please. Thank you. I want to make sure she's alright"
Riley: "Alright. I'll call you back. Talk to you later. Bye"
Michael: "Bye"
As I hung up, I went to the living room & sat on the couch. Where could she be? I hope she's alright. And today's her birthday! I guess I can't give her the surprise...... What a second...... Maybe, I could. So I walked to my music room, got my music book, grabbed Alex & Michelle and went down to the Stables Center. As we got in the car, I called Riley up.
Riley: "Hey Michael. What's up?"
Michael: "Riley, have you called María yet?"
Riley: "Um... Not yet"
Michael: "Well when you call her, take her to the mall & talk to her for a while and then at about 7:00pm bring her to the Stable Center Arena. I rented it today, I have a huge surprise for her"
Riley: "Oh, alright. Would you like me to call her family?"
Michael: "Yeah, if you'd like. Well, I got to go. See ya later"
Riley: "Alright, alright. See ya Michael", she said & hung up.
~30 minutes later~ (On the highway)
Alex: "Where are we going Daddy?", he said from the back seat.
Michael: "We're going to a concert arena. I'm going to surprise Mommy on her birthday"
Michelle: "Is Mommy coming back?"
Michael: "I hope so Michelle. I hope so", I sighed.
Alex: "Where is she?"
Michael: "(sigh) I don't know Alex. She won't answer any of my calls"
Alex: "I hope she's okay"
Michael: "I hope so too Alex. I hope so too"
