"I told you... Just stay by my side and don't wander around."
Cana felt relief as she could feel the warmth of the hand supporting her.
"Okay... Thank you..." she felt embarrassed and behaved as he led her and tried to find a less crowded area. She wonders why they are leaving the path and goes to a nearby park and tells her to sit at the bench.
"Brother Samuel, aren't we looking for the others, why are we sitting here?"
"It's easier to meet if we stay at a certain place. Plus..." he paused and looked down.
"Hmm?" she tilted her head as to what he's going to say next.
"Your foot... It's bleeding ..." he said, then she looks at her shoes backwards.
Her backheel has been bleeding, " Ah, it's the new shoes... That's why it's a bit uncomfortable." she said as she looked at the reddened back of feet.
"I have a band aid here, just sit." he said, she tried to protest but he already kneeled and took care of her wounded feet.
Oh look what a gentleman...
My, that's sweet. Is that his sister?
Those women are quite pretty and elegant... Is he not interested? Is he a gay or he is...
She suddenly remembers the name of the person he's talking to on the phone.
"Marcie..." she mumbles, and that Samuel looked at her... She quickly covered her mouth for that slip of the tongue.
"..."
"Ah... Nothing, I just heard you talking over the phone? Is that your friend? Or maybe a girlfriend?" he didn't reply and just looked at her. It was a bit awkward and her nosiness is going to dig up her own grave.
"What makes you think that she's a girlfriend?" he asked.
"So you overheard my phone conversation and think that Mharcie is my girlfriend."
"Y-yes? Well it's natural, since you are older than us and you even drive a car, you're an adult so it's not weird to have a girlfriend right?" ah, it's hard, but I am so nervous... I can't even force a smile now... Do I look awful in his face?
"She's not..."
Eh?
"Oh I see... She's no- ! Really?"
"I said she's not my girlfriend. I am not used to taking care of others. And I only focus on to whom I'm interested." he said, looking directly into my eyes.
He's looking at me...that means... Can I assume?
"That... you mean..."
"I only take care of you, and my attention is focused only on you..." he is quite closer now as he itches his face and to my surprise, he kissed my cheek.
"Samuel... You... Why are you so flirtatious! " I exclaimed, I could feel my body heats up at that simple gesture. It was the first time.
"Stop thinking of any naughty things. If not I'll do something even naughtier just to make you aware of me." he smirks as he enjoys her fuming over the kiss on the cheek.
"But then... You mean... To me is..." I have to make sure of what he said to me. I have to give my all and get all my courage up for this..
This is my chance. I need to make sure of these feelings.
"Samuel..." I called out to him, he is still looking directly at me, he is quite tall even when he's squatting down and I straightened up my back.
"I am not like any other girls of my age, I do play a lot and let's say a bit childish... I do not care much about what others say and just do as I please..." I looked at him, he was listening to me earnestly.
"I am still young and immature, I am not good at laundry and cooking, I don't wear skirts or dresses, I don't even use make ups and my brothers said I am a tomboy. But I am good at learning so I will try to keep up with your expectations!"
"So what of it?"
I didn't finish what I had to say when he held my hand and kissed the back of it. The way he looks at me is so mesmerizing, the dim light from the streetlights makes him look as if a blurry and seducing man. I gulped when I felt his soft lips touch my skin.
"You don't have to rush things. It's fine the way you are..." he said to me.
"That... That's ..."
"You are still young, and I am an adult. I will wait for you but don't go play too much, I am trying to wait eagerly, but I am not a patient one." he smiled feeling the warmth of her hand to his face and kissed her palm this time.
"You mean... You like me too? The way I like you as well?" I asked him directly.
"Yes, I like you Canary" he speaks softly, it's been so long since I've heard someone called out my name the way he did. I felt so happy , I don't know what to do. The sides of my eyes started to feel hot. No. I am not crying at this moment.
"Yeah, my little girl. You're really naughty, don't get ahead of yourself and behave well okay?"
Ah, this is happiness. I don't want to let her go, I just want to take her home now. But I have to hold until the right time.
"Come, my little girl, let's go and meet the others." I hold out my hand and she happily accepts it. She's smiling the brightest and makes my heart race. I want to keep her smiling and be the happiest for the rest of our lives.
