Chapter 2 Changes

Ryoma was sleeping when Karupin jumps on his belly, “Ugh!” he was really awakened with that, then he look at the clock it was half an hour before six, that was too early but he cannot get back into sleep so he decided to get up from his bed and do some morning exercises. He changed his clothes and grabbed his racket and two balls, Karupin follows at him.

It was a normal morning, she could still remember what were those people were asking her it hurts her deep inside. She’s even asking herself, “Why did I stop after all? What am I afraid of?” she was very troubled about it that she have not slept at all, or maybe she’s just not into the place she was sleeping at. Her room in America is quite more spacious, the ceiling was bright and the room is very fresh in the eyes. She will be only staying in this new room for just a few more weeks. She tries to sleep again but she heard noises, it’s like there’s someone playing outside. But it was quarter before six, she stand up and look outside the window.

“Oh, Ryoma you’re early?”

“Nee-san?” Ryoma was surprised

“Good morning!”

“Good morning too”

At breakfast

“Ryoma, what club are you in?”

“I’m a volunteer at the Library at the same time I’m at the tennis club” bites at his toasted bread, he dislikes western food and prefers Japanese food instead but this time it was his aunt Nanako who made breakfast and not his mother.

“Ryoma-san is a good player, you must watch him Yuuki-chan” it’s Nanako, as she put down a plate with sunny-side up egg and bacon, “here’s your bread, and do you want to drink milk too?”

“Thanks”

“Nee-san, how long are you going to stay here?” Ryoma asked to the girl beside him

“I’m just waiting for the renovation to end, my homecoming here in Japan is unexpected. Maybe a week or two”

“Oh I see… are you going to come with me? I have a club activity this morning.”

“Library?”

“No, tennis. We’ll be having an Intra-school ranking selection by next week, and we need to do more practice.”

When they finished their breakfast they both went to school. Ryoma went to his club practice while Yuuki just stayed in their classroom. All students were busy with their club activities except for her. To make herself busy she looks around the building and finds herself watching at the tennis court from afar.

“It’s been years… and I haven’t moved on yet…”

A pair of sharp eyes is staring at her; those eyes seemed has something to do with her. She sensed it, and turned her head around to where her instinct told her, her eyes narrowed. No one’s there. Maybe it’s just in her mind. Her attention suddenly turns when she saw some familiar faces at the court, first is Ryoma

“So, Ryo-chan is a regular. Hmmm… not bad, uncle will surely be disappointed if he didn’t make it.”

At the other court the first years were swinging their rackets will all their might, her classmate Fuji is there as well, and the generous guy Oishi was it? Is there too. Her eyes narrowed as she sees the next guy. Tezuka Kunimitsu.

“Could I make it?” the question came out from her mind.

Later in class,

“Good morning!” it was Hinamori who greeted her.

“Good morning too” she replied

“Why do you have such a poor tone! It must be lively; your morning doesn’t sound good”

“Maybe because you keep on bugging her Aoi-chan, hehe” it was Eiji

“Eh! Keep out of this Kikumaru-san! What are you doing here?”

“Huh? I’m here in this class; I think you’re the one I need to ask?”

“Isn’t it obvious, I’m here to recruit Yuuki-san?”

“I think it’s more of force membership rather than recruitment” now it’s Fuji

“Fuji-kun!”

“Your persistent Aoi-san, so did your convincing plans worked?”

“Not yet.”

“Eh? What was the recruitment thing with you guys?” Eiji asked

“Yuuki-san is a great tennis player, and I’m asking her to join our team and be one of the regulars”

“Oh really!? That’s good to hear! Did you sign up already?”

“That’s why I have this!” she raises her hand holding a club membership paper

“Will you accept it Yuuki-san?” Fuji insisted to ask this question, the three of them stopped and waited for an answer

“I’ll think about it” she said and grabs the paper and stand and walks to leave the room

They were stunned; Aoi recovered first and waves at her

“You’ll just have to sign your name here Yuuki-san and you can submit it to me later after class!”

They all have smiling faces knowing that there is a little hopes to what they were doing for.
