She watched them go one by one, and she was next.
"I can't do this." She muttered.
"You can." Thomas assured her. "Just go, before it's too late." There were footsteps and a soldier from WCKD appeared. "Go!" Thomas panicked, shoving her out. She screamed as she went. Suddenly, she felt she was no longer gliding across, but more like falling down. She gripped into the wire as it swung around, slamming her onto the side of the building. As if it couldn't get any worse, the place they'd just came from, exploded. Ava did panic, at first. But then, she had faith her brother escaped. He's not stupid. Well... not stupid enough to get himself killed.
"Ava!" She heard a voice call.
"I'm down here!" She yelled back, and faces appeared out of a gap in the wall. "A little help!"
-----
Here's what she'd found out; Jorge was convinced the will find the safe haven or 'the right arm' with the help of some guy named Marcus. She didn't know where she was going, but she hoped it was good.
"So what are the rules then?" Newt asked her, randomly.
"What rules?" She replied confused.
"Well when you date someone, there's rules right? And we never established ours."
"You're alright asking me about rules. I remember about as much as the rest of you, if not, less." She pointed out. "Is this what you've been thinking about?"
"We don't know how long it's gonna be before we find Marcus, so why not talk about it."
"Okay, fine. What rules would you like to discus, my love?"
"As a given, must remain loyal." Ava nodded in agreement. "Second, no secrets. I would hate to think there's something you're not telling me."
"What if it was a suprise."
"That's an exception." She smile. "Also, I wanted to know if I would have to ask you everytime I wanted to kiss you."
"No. If you wanna kiss me, then do it. Of course you don't have to ask."
"Good." He smiles. "That's good."
"Is that all?"
"Pretty much, I guess."
"Stop." Jorge said suddenly, halting everyone. "We're here."
"Jorge!" A man slurred as he walked towards us. "I suppose you're looking for your sanctuary, am I right?"
"Don't play games Marcus." Marcus halves at Ava.
"You're the sister aren't you?"
"I'm sorry?"
"A boy and a girl came by here. Said they were looking for a group of people. One girl, the boys sister apparently, can be spotted miles away, all because of the colour of her hair." Ava wondered if that's why WCKD did it. So she was easily identified without seeing her face.
"Is he inside?" She asks, steppingcloser to the door, only to be stopped by a woman in practically underwear.
"This is the entry fee, darl." Marcus chimed, holding up a bottle of a funny green liquid.
"Oh." She muttered, taking it from his hand. "Thank you, so much." She then threw it to the ground, pushed past the woman and stormed inside. Newt and Minho shared a look, however sporting totally different expressions. Minho looked slightly concerned, whereas Newt had a huge smile on his face.
"I am so gonna marry that girl." He said, this causing even Jorge to crack a smile. Inside, Ava weaved through crowds of people that looked to be off their heads on drugs. She then saw someone fall down and sniggered a little. She crouched in front if them, but then realised it was Thomas.
"Tommy. Tommy, wake up. Thomas."
"Ava." He groaned, not even lifting his head. "Ava, help me."
"You drank the stuff didn't you?"
"I drank the- the stuff in the bo- the bottle."
"Honestly." She breathed, trying her best to hoist him up.
-----
"Please let me punch him. Just once." Ava begged.
"No, Ava." Minho said sternly, despite the fact Jorge was beating the crap out of Marcus anyways. "It's the woman's job to look after the ill and infirm."
"First of all, what the hell kind of book did you pull that one from? Second, that is so sexist. I am more than capable of throwing a punch. You should know."
"Why should he know?" Frypan asked, curious.
"I once tried to jump out of her in the maze and she punched me in the face." Minho admitted. "It's safe to say I didn't do it again."
"Tell me where they are!" Jorge yelled, hitting Marcus once more.
"Okay, you can't tell me you don't wanna punch that guy."
"Come on, let's move." Jorge said, ushering them on.
"Did he tell you?" Ava asked.
"Yep. And we're talking Bertha."
"Who the hell is Bertha?"
-----
So, Bertha was the name of Marus' car. It was fast and it felt good to be able to just sit for a while but also know we're making progress. Ava hung her head out of the window, loving the feeling of the wind in her hair. She loved the feeling of the sun on her skin. The feeling she could finally breathe without the fear of something going wrong. The feeling that they would find peace. The feeling they would find happiness. The feeling she was finally free. Like things might looking up, and they might be blessed with a bit of luck.
-----
"Looks like were on foot from here." Jorge sighed, as everyone piled out of the car. It looked as though every other vehicle in the world was shoved onto this road. Suddenly, what sounded to be a bullet, ricocheted from the hood of the car closest to Ava. Her eyes widened.
"Get down!" Thomas yelled and everyone dropped down behind anything around them. Ava covered her ears, trying to drown out the sound of the guns. She didn't even realise it had stopped. However, she did hear one being loaded inches from her face. She looked up and saw a young girl with blonde hair, towering over her.
"Get up. Now!" Ava stood, her hands up slightly. "What the hell are you- Aris?" What the fu-
