Chapter 4

Yamaguchi

The ball was continued to be up in the air. Hinata went to the left of the court as a decoy and sprinted to the right. He jumped up in the air and Kageyama set perfectly to him. He spiked the ball and it flew over to Yamaguchi.

The ball smacked against Yamaguchi's forearm and went out of bounds. Giving Kageyama and Hinata a point. Ren glanced at the score board as it went to 24 to 23 out of their favor.

"Yeah!" Hinata cheered as he ran up to Tanaka.

"Yeah! That was freakin' perfect!" Tanaka exclaimed as he and Hinata exchanged high fives.

"Thanks!" Hinata laughed and looked at his palm. "Alright! We're on a roll!"

Ren stared at Hinata, impressed. The guy took a huge hit to the face earlier and was still standing. Though, he can't say that his brain cells haven't died yet. The ball was served again and they continued the game.

"You're not getting past me this time, kid!" Tsukishima growled at the ginger as he jumped up to block him. The two boys stared at one another as the ball went, surprisingly, to Tanaka, who was on the other side of the court.

"Oh really?" He yelled as he smacked the ball down, giving his team a point and winning the first set 25 to 23.

"Dammit." Tsukishima growled.

"Oh! You like that?" Tanaka screamed as he took off his shirt. "Sup, Tsukishima?! Not talkin' so big anymore, huh?"

"Yeah, what he said!" Hinata added.

"Ooh, I wish you'd try something, boy!" Tanaka growled.

"Yeah, go ahead and try!"

"Why are you doing more trash talking than Hinata is?" Sugawara asked.

"Huh?" Tanaka said and looked over to the sidelines.

"Exactly! Without the first-years, you never would have made that hit!" Ennoshita yelled.

"Yeah, don't get all cocky!" Sugawara scolded

"Keep your clothes on!" Kinoshita added.

"Look, I don't need any smart remarks from the peanut gallery!" Tanaka retorted. The three boys looked at him in surprise at the insult.

Ren took a swing of water and looked at his teammates on their break. He knew they couldn't really do anything. Their best chance was defense while the other team was really good at offense.

"All right, lets focus on blocking the quick attacks and Tanaka's spike's. However, Yamaguchi and I will alternate as setters. So, make sure your ready. Is that okay?" Ren asked. Neither of his teammates objected so they went with his plan.

The referee, Narita, blew his whistle. "Time for the second set!" He announced.

"Ready?" Ren asked.

"Yeah." Yamaguchi answered.

"Yes." Tsukishima replied.

They all walked up to the court and the ball was served. After a while, Ren got in position and set the ball to Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi spiked the ball and got blocked by Kageyama making the score 2 to 4 in Hinata's and Kageyama's favor.

At another point Tsukishima spiked past Tanaka and Hinata got smacked in the face by the ball. The score evened 10 to 10.

Kageyama then dunked the ball to the other side of the net making the score 11 to 13 in his favor.

Tsukishima eventually took off his sweater and ran up to block Hinata. However, Kageyama instead made the set to Tanaka. Tanaka spiked the ball past Yamaguchi giving his team a point. "Not today! Suck it, nerds!" Tanaka yelled at them.
