So even though they were strongly advised not to by many people they still did it. They got an Elf on the Shelf.

Chris and Victoria (his wife of five years) decided to get an Elf on the Shelf for their three-year-old son Bentley. They've heard stories from other parents about what their elf has done so they talked about getting one. However, once they brought it up a lot of people told them not to because it becomes a pain having to move them each night.

Chris came carrying Bently down the stairs as the toddler was yawning and rubbing his eyes in his father's arms. Chris wore pajama and a long-sleeve white t-shirt and Bentley wore gingerbread pajamas.

"Good morning" Chris smiled as he saw his wife in the kitchen making breakfast, her red hair was just past her shoulders and she wore pajama pants and one of Chris' sweaters

"Good morning" Chris smiled as he saw his wife in the kitchen making breakfast, her red hair was just past her shoulders and she wore pajama pants and one of Chris' sweaters.

"Morning" she greeted as she put continued washing the fruit.

"Morning Mama" Bentley yawned, rubbing his eyes as Chris sat him in a chair.

"Morning darlin'" the Texan smiled.

She placed the plates of pancakes on the table with the side bowl of strawberries, blueberries, and grapes and put the glasses of milk on down too.

Chris sat at the head of the table, Victoria on his left, and Bentley on his right.

"What is that?" Bentley asked when he saw the elf sitting on the counter.

"Oh my goodness!" Victoria gasped, "where did that come from!?"

"The store," Bentley said plainly.

"I don't think so buddy," Chris said smiling at him.

"Amazon?" He asked.

"No," Chris said, shaking his head and laughing, "it's an elf on the shelf"

"A what on the what?"

"It's an elf from the North Pole," Victoria said.

The toddler looked at her as if she were crazy, "why is there an 'elf' from the 'North Pole' in our house" Bentley asked with air-quotes.

"Because he works for Santa. He watches us and flies back to the North Pole every night and gives a report to Santa and comes back"

"So he's a stalker and a taddle-tale!?"

Chris did his iconic laugh while Victoria smiled, shook her head, and rolled her eyes. Bentley got up from his seat and walked over to the counter where the elf was sitting, he stared at him for a moment, and then he reached his hand out.

"Don't touch him!" The parents yelled.

"Why?" Bentley asked as he jumped from the outburst.

"Because if you touch him he'll lose his magic"

"So, then he can't taddle on me" he shrugged.

"We can call Santa," Chris said,

"No, you can't"

"Yes, we can!" He declared, "we have his number"

"Let me see," Bentley said as he walked over to his Dad.

Chris looked at Victoria for help, she got her phone from off of the counter and pulled up her contacts. "Santa's phone number is secret. Only parents can see his number, so if you see Scott as the first person under S but for me and Daddy I see Santa above the Scott" A/N my mom told me this. Anyone have a similar this or had the same thing done to you?

"Oh" Bentley breathed out, "but he doesn't have magic though"

"What makes you say that?"

"Because, because, because he's a boy!" He exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air.

"So? Boys can't have magic?" Chris asked.

He looked between his parents waving his hands in the air, "but he's a doll!"

"He's an elf"

"no, he's a doll! He doesn't have magic!"

"He's a doll!"

'Why must our son be logical' the parents thought.
