- Lake's POV -
Numbness.
That's all I ever feel anymore. Day in and day out.
It has been four months without my Sweetness and I'm dying inside more and more each day.
I can't bring myself to go and find her because I can still hear her words echoing through my head:
I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME BUT YOU DON'T! NO! YOU LOVE THAT I CAN BE THE MISSING PIECE IN YOUR MAFIA!
She hates me all because I spoke before thinking.
I was laying in bed when the door to Claire and I's bedroom was busted open, hitting the wall with a loud bang.
"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?! GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE AND LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE!" I roared as I looked at Braylon and Griffin.
"NO! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, LAKE!" Braylon shouted back at me, making me angrier.
"FOR FUCKS SAKE!" I growled.
"NO!" Griffin yelled.
I stopped and turned my cold, angry gaze to Griffin with slight surprise in my eyes at the fact that Griffin just yelled at me. Griffin never yells at anyone no matter what is happening.
"You're going to listen to me Lake, and you're going to listen well. I'm tired of seeing my best friend going flying off of the handle for the past four months over a mistake that he made that could have been rectified within a few days. Everyone knows that you love Claire but you opened your mouth and made it seem like she was coming in second to the Mafia. You never should have said it, but yet you did. You should have apologized immediately but you let your temper get the best of you, as per fucking usual! You love her and you have always treated her like a Queen except when it mattered most - when you were in front of your parents - you made her sound like some cheap whore that you picked up off of the side of the road. It's time for you to pick your ass up and go and get your girl before it's too late for you to do so," Griffin said as he looked at me with fire in his eyes, but I was more focused on the two words he had said towards the end of his speech.
"Too late? What do mean too late?" I asked as I shot up from our bed.
"Ever since you let her walk away and you didn't fight harder for her, she's been spiraling out of control like you," Braylon said with a glare.
"Only she has been much worse," Griffin continued grimly.
"Worse? How do you know?" I asked, desperate for answers about my Sweetness.
"We've been keeping in touch with her best friend, Karli, who lives with her so that we can see how she's been doing. Turns out she barely eats, drinks, and she doesn't sleep either," Braylon said, the glare seeming to be permanent on his face.
"Now she's paying the consequences for both of your actions," Griffin said.
"What do you mean?" I asked, feeling my heart race and my palms sweat.
"She's in the hospital and she is in critical condition. Kyler is already there with Karli and we are here to take you to see her if you decide to finally pull your head out of your ass!" Braylon snapped.
"I am, I'm ready! Now take me to her!" I shouted as the three of us rushed out of the house and hopped into the car that was waiting in front of the house.
Braylon jumped in the driver's seat and punched it to the hospital as I sat in the passenger's seat with Griffin sat in the backseat.
"It's about damn time that I see that fire in your eyes again," Braylon said with a smile at the corner of his lips.
