"They know...trap! We...reinforcements!... quick ..."

Sophie was frozen, her heart was pounding in her ears. Her fear had taken over.

They need help.

She continued to remind herself of that, but she couldn't concentrate.

Her mind kept coming back to the same memory.

A bank.

Her parents.

Gunshots.

Sophie shut her eyes tightly as she relived the memory. A single tear rolling softly down her cheek.

Her parents were heroes. They saved someone's life in exchange for theirs.

Those policemen are still alive.

And she can help them.

Sophie swiftly yanked her hood over her head so it covered her eyes, tied a scarf on, pulled it over her nose, and stuffed on her worn out tennis-shoes. Dressed in all black she blended in with the cold, autumn night perfectly.

Sophie rushed over to her door, making sure it was locked and then turned off her light, making it look like she'd gone to bed. She turned to the static radio.

It had been a while since she'd heard the police's call for help.

What if-

Sophie shut down the thought and turned off the radio. She headed over to her open window, carefully climbed out and clung on to the windowsill, her feet trying to find the sturdy surface of the dumpster lid. The tip of Sophie's shoe grazed the rusty metal. She let go of the windowsill and plopped down, the soft clang making her cringe.

She had to be quiet and sneaky if she didn't want to wake her adoptive parents and little sister. Unfortunately she was born the clumsiest person on Earth so she wouldn't be surprised if she woke the entire building up.

Sophie lived with her family of three on the second floor, apartment 221 in San Francisco, California. To Sophie's surprise, her sister, Amy and her had their own rooms which always was handy when you run off to stop crime without wanting anyone to know. Their apartment was surprisingly larger than the usual ones, with an extra bedroom (Amy's room) and decent-sized kitchen and living room.

Sophie jumped down from the dumpster as quietly as she could and speed-walked to the car parking lot. Each apartment had their assigned parking spot and Sophie's family's was right by the road. Which complicated things. To make it even more hard to sneak away, she had to slip by the cameras unnoticed.

For that all she had to do was make a phone call. As she typed in the correct number she nervously glanced up every few seconds, looking around for anything suspicious. The road was pretty much empty and she was out of the cameras' range, so why did she feel like someone was watching her?

The air began to thicken. Everything was closing in.

Sophie's phone rang and she shook her head, clearing the fogginess.

She was imagining stuff. Just being overly paranoid like always.

Sophie answered her phone and her best friend's voice was much too loud for the stillness of the night.

"Hey, Sophie! How're you?"

"Umm, hi Dex. I'm okay, but can you please keep it down? Sort of trying to sneak around here-" Sophie whispered.
