Cam sat and stared at me the whole time Aedon was talking. Every time I'd look up, his violet eyes would be on me. I didn't realize Aedon had quit talking until everyone was staring at me.
"Alexandra, are you listening?"
"Hmm what yea, yea I am." I return to my food sliding my eyes away from Cam and to Aedon. He's talking about some stolen thing. I missed what it was. He keeps referring to it as the light sword.
"So as I was saying. Alexandra, we need your help to get it back. It was stolen from us hundreds of years ago. None of us can get it because none of us can pass as dark angels, but you can. Being half light and half dark angel, you can get it back."
"I'm sorry what. Angels have wings. If you're angels where are your wings?"
"We are angels in the loosest definition of the term. As are you for that matter. We like to consider ourselves earth angels. We live on earth just like humans do and survive in the same way only we are given a purpose and some extra powers." His lips tug up in a smile.
"Let's be real. Being able to make yourself invisible to humans whenever you want. It's fucking nice!" Cal chimed in. He fist bumped and clapped hands with Emilio. They're just like all the boys I know. I let out a quiet chuckle. "What are you laughing about Alexandra?" Cal turned all his attention onto me. His eyes glaring into mine. "I... I... You guys act like high school boys!" I tried to be nice but I couldn't help it. I doubled over laughing. Mare joined me. No one else did. Mare wrapped her arms around me. "Oh I like you Lex!"
When we regained our composure Aedon stopped all our conversations. "Can we please get back to the topic at hand?!" He sounded pissed. "Alexandra we are the ground enforcers of the angelic world. Yet, there is always a good guy and a bad guy. Well the demonic angels sent up dark angels to balance out the power on earth. They took our sword. The one that ya know keeps evil from spreading on rampage. Yeah that one. We need you to help us get it back because you are the only one that has even the slightest chance of passing as a dark angel."
"Wow um I think you have the wrong girl. I'm not an angel of any kind. I am just a normal girl born to two human parents in Manhattan. You all seem very nice but I don't think I can help you out." I made my way to get up and leave.
"Alexandra! Sit down. Can you please try to believe me." Aedon pleaded with me.
"No. I don't know what to believe. You all sound like crazy people." This time I make it farther. I storm out of the dining hall and take the stairs up to foyer. Still stomping my feet in my heels, my dress sliding up my body becoming shorter by the minute, I reach the elevator. I press the button and wait. The only sound is the tapping of my foot.
After about a minute a ding sounds. The elevator doors open up. I rush inside. Just as the doors are closing, a hand shoots out at the last second reopening the doors. Standing infront of me is Cam. My heart skips a beat. He seems like the broody, anger issues type but also sweet.
He strides into the elevator, keeping his distance from me. We stand staring at the closed door for a minute before Cam reaches over a pushes the stop button on the control panel.
"What the hell man!" Cam had moved infront of me to push the button. He spun on his heel inches from my face. Whispering, I could feel his breath touching my face, "We need to have a little discussion."
