Day 1

Mare opened my door at the wonderful hour of 6 am. To say I was happy to see her was greatly exaggerated. "Wakey wakey Lex!" She screeched. My ears were ringing from the loud sound of her voice. "No Mare go away." I muttered as I threw my pillow over my head and pulling my blankets up.

Mare turned the light on and I could see the yellow haze of it seeping through my pillow. Mare's footstep grew closer. The shape of her shadow blocked out some of the light on my pillow. I groaned, knowing she was standing over me. She tugged on the top of the blanket, ripping it off my body. An instant wave of cold air washed over me. I wrapped my arms tight around my chest and tucked in my legs. Mare was persistent. She playfully pushed me. It started off slow but each push got harder. My body rocked back and forth. I was sliding closer to the edge of the bed. I swear if Mare pushes me to the floor I am going to be pissed.

"Get up Lex!" Mare seethed. Her fist collided with my back sending me flying to the floor. I landed on the cold tile with a crack. My bones creaked as I sat up. "What the hell was that for!" I shouted as I lifted my head to look at Mare. Her lips swooped up in a smile, eyebrows high above her eyes. She let out a loud cackle while clutching her stomach. "You look funny when you're mad." Oh she had nerve. I could respect that but not after she pushed me onto the floor! I wondered why she was even in here. I only got four hours of sleep thanks to their kidnapping of me.

I still had mixed emotions about them. I like Mare, she has become more of a friend to me in the seven hours that I've known her than my actual friends. Cam is interesting. Everyone seems to respect him, maybe even fear him. I am going to figure him out while I'm here. Aedon, is definitely the leader. Self imposed or elected, I have no clue. He doesn't look like one to let loose often though. The others are jokesters. They lightened the mood last night. I can see how them and Mare get along so well.

Mare walked into my closet. She pulled out a pair of black jeans, a black tank top, and black underclothes. Her eyebrows wiggle up and down like I'm supposed to be in awe of an all black outfit. I snort. "Cute." She scoffs at my reaction, clearly hurt. "You didn't even let me show you the best part!" She grabs a hanger and pulls out a leather jacket. I jump up and reach for the jacket. Mare pulls it out of my reach. "Uh uh. Jacket comes last. Get dressed we have work to do." Work? What kind of work?

The leather jacket chilled my skin as Mare and I walked out of my room and down the steps. I walked with my head high and chin up. It was the jacket that gave me that confidence boost.

Mare turns towards me. She motions for me to walk next to her as she explains the schedule. "Ok so your first day will be your easiest day here. You have weapons training with me until 8. Breakfast at 8:15." She paused for a second. "Cam will be there." she says with a wink. Oh my... she thinks I have a thing for him already. How could I though, I've known him for all of two seconds. Mare continued listing off my schedule. I saw her lips moving but I wasn't listening. All I could think about were these people and what'd they'd make me do.

"Got all that?" I nodded giving her a small smile even thought I didn't hear any of what she was saying. "There's going to be a lot more people training in here today than there were last night. We forced everyone into the dining hall for you arrival but now they're out and about." her usual chirpy attitude making its way back into her voice.

She was right. We turned the corner to enter the training room. There were people everywhere. And of course they were all dressed in similar fashion to me. The all black attire seemed to be a uniform.

The ring in the center of the room was surrounded by people. I subconsciously take a step towards it wanting to see what the fuss was all about before Mare stops me. "Don't" she warns. I don't understand why but whatever. I don't know this place and would rather stick with Mare than get lost. "Would you rather start with guns or knives?" she scoffs then adds, "I wanted to do hand to hand combat but the boys just had to show off today." She rolls her eyes and turns away from me walking towards the back of the training room. I don't know why I call it a room. This is the biggest room I've ever been in. I felt more like a center. There was a huge amount of space even with the crowd.
