Holidays had come and gone, everyone returning to school excitedly talking about their Christmas gifts and such. Draco arrived without new gifts (even though he told everyone there were far too many to count) but three new letters all addressed to the same girl, Charlize. Usually letters that he knew would completely ruin him if they got out were burned, however he didn't have the heart to burn them, not yet.

Harry and Charlize had begun weekly lessons with Professor Lupin, learning to summon a patronus. Neither have gotten too far in their journey Charlize thought as she was knocked onto her arse from Harry's boggart of a dementor.

"Alright Harry, come take a piece of this. Charlize you get up now." Lupin handed Harry a piece of chocolate and ushered Charlize up.

The boggart was let out again, and it was horrifyingly amazing the way it split itself into two halves, one turning into a dementor and the other Tom Riddle himself. The dementor moved towards her as Tom Riddle tried to distract and discourage her.

"Expecto patronum!" Charlize said as strongly as she could.

Her head began to pound with the pain and her vision fogged, "Expecto...patronum..." She said with a shaky voice.

Professor Lupin then moved in front of her and summoned his own patronus, containing the boggart of the dementor, then shouting a riddikulus at the boggart of Tom Riddle.

"That's alright, you both are getting better." Professor Lupin said calmly.

The lesson ended as quickly as it started, Harry and Charlize walking down to meet Ron and Hermione so they could all go visit Hagrid together. It was the day Buckbeak the hippogriff was to be executed, thanks to Draco and Lucius Malfoy. Charlize wasn't a fan of the large creature, but she didn't want it done nonetheless. And for this reason she was a bit distant from Draco, not wanting to blame him but knew he was ultimately the one who is causing the animals death.

They had walked out of the castle, finding Draco and his usual two friends, Crabbe and Goyle accompanying him.

"Ah, come to see the show?" Draco asked with a proud smile, looking at Charlize.

Truthfully, Draco wanted the beast killed for Charlize, he knew how much it scared her and thought she'd want it gone. The scowl on her delicate features said otherwise, Hermione charged toward him before he could question the other girls fowl mood.

"You! You, foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach!" Hermione shouted at the boy while thrusting her wand into his neck.

"Hermione no! He's not worth it." Ron said, though he'd like to see the blonde git get it handed to him.

Charlize looked away from the blonde, and Draco saw this as a betrayal, further fueling his anger and confusion. Hermione stepped back for a moment then stepped into a nasty punch that landed right onto Draco's face as he was looking at Charlize. Draco and his friends rushed away from the group but Charlize followed them, wanting to talk to Draco.

"Draco! Draco, wait!" She called after him.

Draco stopped, signalling for the other two boys to leave them. He scoffed and said, "What do you want, Snape?"

Charlize stood back shocked, he hadn't used such a sour tone with her in awhile. But she swallowed her intimidation and began, "I just wanted to make sure you were alright."

"Yeah, you couldn't do that in front of your friends could you?"

           "I'm sorry, I just-"
