Note to self: Next time bring an umbrella! With my new band of friends in over 15 minutes we wait for the bus which doesn't come until the storm is beginning to take its toll on us. Well actually more than late. It seems like it's been forever and the whole time, Star's chatting away about taking a vacation somewhere out of the states while Jeanna and Joe are bitching at each other. The twins have a front row seat as both Jeanna and Joe threaten to tear each other's arms off. Aside from those crappy moments with Jeanna, everything is just peachy. Not!
The bus is practically crowded when the driver finally pulls up next to the curb. The front two seats smell like moldy pizza and small chip crumbs are left on the floor. It disgusts me greatly but none of it is worse than seeing two couples sitting side by side kissing each other. Emos, but I'm not being racist, it's just that the girl with the long black hair mixed with blue and purple streaks has her right leg sticking out through the aisle. And as for the boy, licking the girl all over wasn't really in my favor. Rushing through the back, I'm lucky enough to find an empty seat. Well almost empty. Sitting closer to the window is this girl with sandy brown hair that's braided into a perfect bun and it's hard to see if she was wearing shorts or not.
"Excuse me?" I ask politely, trying to grab her attention. The girl raises her dimmed head for 5 seconds and shoots me a mean glare. "What?" She clearly doesn't like the idea of me being in her presence and crossed one leg over the other. I open my mouth to say something but decide to sit across from her where another girl is sitting. This one seems less hostile and more focused on the heavy rain outside. What an excellent way to start my first day of school. Now I see what Ellie meant when she said that school's going to be murder. Maybe I should rethink the whole living here thing.
Still it would have to wait until I got home. It takes only 10 minutes to get to school from here but with the downpour outside and the constant light changes, it's no wonder why we get to school 5 seconds after the late bell rung. Not to mention that my home base class is on the other side of the school. I sigh heavily against the bricked wall that lines up against a flight of stairs and slide down to my butt. "What a pain in the...." Before I can finish my sentence, someone appears in front of me. She has the same look as Star, only her hair is dyed pink and one ear has been pierced, so is her nose.
"You do know that leaning against the walls will earn you a ticket in detention right?" She asks me, looking around for teachers/administrators. I laugh nervously and take her hand as she offers to help me to my feet. Brushing the dirt from my leggings, I brush a strip of my lavender hair from my face. The girl giggles and picks up my book bag for me. "I'm sorry if I scared you in any way, my name's Miranda by the way, love." I detect a hint of British and Irish in Miranda. And no, it's not because she's wearing a see through cheetah's top covered with a short white jacket and exposed her legs with booty shorts. I guess my mind just processes details on it's own time.
"Right, hey um thanks Miranda. My name is Pryor, I just moved here from California and it kind of seems like I'm lost aren't I?"
Miranda arches a brow at me. Was it something I said? "Love, you do know that new students get a freebie right?" It takes awhile for her words to sink into my head. The word "freebie" is like a cure to my relief. I exhale a deep breath and nearly fall into her arms. "Really, is that possible?" She nods and flashes me a smile. "If you'd like I'll take you to see your home base teacher. I was on my way back from the office when I happened to spot you." Hiding the embarrassment I felt right now, I let Miranda direct me to my home base class even though I forgot to drop off the paperwork to the front office. When we got upstairs, the halls were dead silent. Not a word, not even a pin drop. Is the school strict about having some loud music or singing in the halls? I thought maybe Charlotte would be different than California but I guess not.
