Summary: Maybe sniffing strange flowers wasn't the best idea in the world."I hope you realize this is all your fault..." Skylar grumbled, aggressively pushing aside the foliage blocking her way. Loudly and irritably, she groaned when she was only greeted by more vegetation, the shoreline nowhere to be seen amongst the thickets surrounding them.
"My fault? How the hell is it my fault?" Zoro frowned as he followed close behind.
"Because you're the one with the odd ability to get us lost every time we go somewhere together!" she glared, swiveling on her heel and jabbing a finger right at the swordsman whose frown only deepened. "Sometimes I don't even know why I bother coming with you when I know it's always going to end up with us getting lost" she huffed before growing depressed as her head and shoulder drooped...
So much for her plan to keep him from getting lost.
She wasn't exactly sure when he had taken the lead during their walk together, but at some point they found themselves drifting away from the trail and deeper into the woods that seemed to cover the entire island. She wasn't even sure why Zoro wanted to wander away from the ship when there wasn't much to the island. They had only really docked here in hopes of getting some rest while Franky looked the ship over for any damage it might have suffered during their last run-in with the Marines.
"Why does your sense of direction have to be so bad...?" she depressingly muttered, turning away from him as she only seemed to sulk even more.
"Hey now! It's not that bad!" Zoro defensively argued, eyebrows knitting together as his cheeks grew rather warm in embarrassment at having to hear about just how bad his sense of direction was once again.
"Yeah...whatever..." Skylar dismissively grumbled with a roll of her eyes before curiously humming the moment she spotted something odd not that far from where they stood. She ignored the swordsman behind her who began to sputter and stumble over his words in defense of his sense of direction before finally grumbling to himself in defeat. Instead, she placed all of her attention on the strange flower that sprouted from a vine tightly wrapped around the trunk of a nearby tree. She knew her flowers and was rather decent at identifying the various flora that could be found within nature, but...
She didn't recognize this one at all.
It's petals were lush and vibrant with a splattered pattern as it bloomed and curved outwards. Despite its colorful appearance, the odd blending and mismatched coloring made it almost seem as if nature itself didn't quite know what it was doing. Its pistil was small yet bulbous, its style swelling and looking just about ready to burst at any moment.
"What an odd flower..." curiously, she tilted her head, mindlessly moving closer to the odd flower...was it perhaps a new species of flower? Was it safe for her to touch or even be this close to it? Would it be rude or cruel to pick and bring it back with her so that Chopper or Robin could give it a look and tell her what they thought of it?
So many questions...and yet, no answers to be found.
"Hm?" she owlishly blinked, body subconsciously leaning forward the moment she thought she saw the swollen pistil start to pulsate, causing the flower's petals to quake. One would think the flower alive with the way that it breathed, its style throbbing as its petals began to curl inwards as if attempting to close itself right back up. Squinting her eyes in questioning curiosity, she watched as its pistil began to grow in size, its bulbous body now looking just about ready to pop at the seams until eventually—
"What? What's wrong?!" Zoro jolted the second he heard the brunette cry out in surprise, her sharp yelp startling him as he automatically grasped at his swords.
