"Huh, the higher we go up this caldera, the brighter the moon ruin glows" callum said whilst fidgeting with his toy cube again.
"Here's a theory, the higher we walk, the closer we are to.." Rayla pointed up to the sky "the moon"
"Hmm, I don't know" callum said "something seems different this time"
Just as he finished that sentence we heard a spooky sound coming from an unknown direction.
"Did anyone else hear that?" Elis asked with a trembling voice and Ava let out a
whimper.
"Yup! Ignoring it, keep moving" Rayla said and started walking further.
I was just confused by this situation. There was the same sound again, but this time we could tell from which side it came from.
"Maybe we should find out what it is?" Ezran asked.
"I'm going to share an old elven proverb with you" Rayla started "when traveling up a mountain trying to save a dying dragon egg you hear a spooky sound...keep walking" she said with a serious face and started walking again.
"Wow, that's very specific" callum said.
"But true" I said jokingly.
"Wait, really?" Callum asked.
"Wha- no- nevermind" I said and rolled my eyes. And there was the spooky sound again. Ava whimpered from fear again, and bait jumped in Ezrans arms.
"What if someone needs help?" Ezran said with a worried face.
Rayla stopped walking and turned around and started walking towards Ezran. "Ezran" she started and put her hand on his shoulder "you have a good heart" she said with a slight smile "it's super annoying" she said and made her way to the rock which divided us and the sound. "Fine" Rayla sighed "but we shouldn't all go up there. I'll check it out, the rest of you stay here and keep the egg safe" she said and turned around, I was about to start following her but she stopped me "you too (y/n), stay" she said and climbed up the rock and dropped down the other side of it.
I just stood there for a second, not really knowing what to do "yeah, no, I'm going" I said and gave the egg bag back to Ezran. I jumped on the rock and also dropped down the other side of it.
I saw Rayla approaching what looked like a human trapped in spider webs. I carefully went closer to her "Hey" I whispered and Rayla quickly turned around and pointed her blade at me "ok, yeah, should've seen that coming, sorry" I said with my arms up.
"(Y/n)? What the- I told you to stay" she said.
"And I clearly didn't listen" I said and turned my attention to the spider-webbed person.
"Turn back" it suddenly whispered in a creepy way, and moved in my direction, it scared me, so I stepped a few steps back from it.
"Holy mother of- what are you?" I asked, pulling out my blade, pointing it at the figure.
"Before it gets you too" the figure lumped down, not moving anymore.
"I'm not leaving you, I'm going to get you out!" Rayla said and placed her hand on mine, as of saying to put away my weapon, so that's what I did.
She took out her own blade and started cutting the web gently, trying not to hurt the person inside. When she got it open enough, everything that came out was just dust. Rayla gasped.
"Oh no" I said to myself silently, actually a little sad as well, I just saw someone die... again.
Rayla stood there in shock for a minute, well, me too, but I recovered faster and turned to her "come on, we have to go" I said, and she just looked at me and nodded, and started walking. I was close behind her.
