"Hello!" My dad waltzes in like nothing is different. "I have a surprise!"

Ya, I think we noticed the surprise. Ugg. I just want my dad to get out of the house, and go back home.

"Ta-Da!" He says and in comes a small woman, with a girl that looks about ten, and a boy that looks like a teenager. I want to hit my dad, and tell him to go away, but I know I have to act nice, or my mom will be angry.

"Hello," I say, with as much enthusiasm as I can. "And who might be these other people?"

"This is Amelia, who is forty years old. She has two kids, Harper, who is nine, and Noah who is thirteen."

Well, I almost got their ages right. "Hello," I say again for some weird reason. "I suppose you all know who we are." I can not keep the sarcasm from coming out of my mouth.

"Your Mesi, that girl over there is Tiombe, and the boy is Azizi" the girl blurts out. "Very good Hunny, you did amazing Harp-Harp, do you want a mommy hug?" The woman says to Harper. "Yes!" She says in her annoying voice, and runs over to "mommy".

"So you and Amelia are..." I can not help asking. "Amelia's my finance, we're getting married in three months, and we would love you guys to be there!" I mumble a word that sounds like yes, but in my mind, I say no.

After spending about five days with my dad and his "new family" he finally asks if I want to the beach with him

After spending about five days with my dad and his "new family" he finally asks if I want to the beach with him. I say "yes" but really I just want him to go away, and take his perfect family with him.

At the beach, I go and hit some waves. The swell is small today, about 7 feet, and the waves are even smaller. I surf the waves with my dad, and I want it to stay like that. Just me and my dad, and not have a different family interfere.

As we start to walk home I remember the night my dad said he was leaving us. We were walking home around the same time of day, and again, it was just me and him...

"Mesi, I have something to tell you". His voice had sounded serious. "What papa?" "What?". "I am going away, to the other side of Australia for a while, but I will still see you". "Will you have a different family there? papa?". "Of course not" he had said. "You are still my family, just... your mama and I have not gotten along very well these past few years". "But I'll still see you right?". "Every month, and hopefully every week".

He had lied to me. He had said he was not going to have a different family, and he said that he was going to see me once a month. Liar I thought. I wanted to confront him, but I was too scared. Then I thought, why should I keep it to myself? he had lied, and I will tell him so!
