About my life

Imagine the perfect wave, with the perfect crash, with a surfer right in the middle. I had seen this movie once called The Perfect Wave. Basically, they searched forever, before finally finding the perfect wave. I had loved that movie because the movie was like me. I also surf, and I always want to find the perfect wave. I know someday that I will catch the perfect wave, but I have no idea when. I just hope it's soon.

Anyway, I should probably introduce myself. My name is Mesi Abebe. My mom is from Africa, and my dad is from Australia. My last name is my mother's last name which is African. My mom looks super African, and it's funny when she says she lives in Australia. Sometimes people give her weird looks, but we now know how to ignore it. Some people may be hurt because of this, but I think people are just curious. My first name Mesi is also African, and it means water woman. Maybe that's why I like surfing so much.

My mom is black, and my dad is white. Me and my brother and sister, are all lightly colored. My dad and mom broke up when I was eleven. I think that it had something to do with my dad, and how he lost his job. Anyway, I live with my mom, brother, sister, and dog. I am twelve years old. My brother is seven, and my sister is five. My dog is one, and absolutely adorable. We are not one of the richest families living in Australia, but we have enough money to get what we need.

My dad's name is Jack. I used to go out when I was three, and I would surf with my dad, on his surfboard. I loved being in the ocean with him. My dad has won many competitions for surfing, and I hope to be like him one day. I only get to see my dad sometimes, because we live three hours away from him. I remember my favorite Christmas present was a surfboard. I was about five, and I loved it.

My mom's name is Adana. She works as a teacher for a first-grade class. My mom is one of those moms that are super strict. She makes us follow all the rules she makes. She likes to read books and teach us everything she knows. She comes from an African culture, that is very traditional. My mom hopes that we are like her one day.

My brother's name is Azizi. My brother wants to be a professional basketball player one day. Since he is the only boy in our house now, he sometimes feels left out. We make sure that he is loved. He loves every single basketball player in the world. He started playing basketball when he was four. He has played on a traveling team and is surprisingly really good.

My sister's name is Tiombe. My sister wants to be a dancer when she grows up. She was put into dance at two and has grown to be a very strong dancer. She has performed in many performances. Tiombe is the youngest and can be very shy. She is funny and sometimes annoying. Even though she is shy, she can also be very loud, and always steals the show at every performance.

Anyway, back to my life. We live right next to the beach, about one hundred steps from the sand. We have a long boardwalk, that we can walk, and bike on. There is a pier for fishing, and a coffee shop, that is to the right of the pier. I love where we live, and even though we have moved seven times, we seem to want to stay at this house.

I have a best friend, who lives two houses away from me. We met in school and became closer ever since. Her name is Olivia. She lives with her mom, dad, grandma, and sister. She also loves surfing, and I love hanging out with her. Sometimes she can get super annoying, but she is also very nice. She has a big farm in the back of their house, and this is how they make a living. It might sound weird, that we live so close to the beach, but she lives in a farmhouse, but somehow, she does. Anyway, enough about my life, and on to the beach
