"Dad?" my voice starts out as a squeak. "Dad?" I say louder, and finally, he answers. "What Mesi?". That's when it hits me. He used to call me sweetheart. Now his sweethearts are some kids he picked up on the road and not the ones he made.
"I was wondering". I start over. "I wanted to know why you lied to me that day when you said you were going away, and you told me that you would not make a new family. At the same time, you told me that you would see me often. Why did you lie? Why Daddy why?". I might be the oldest in my family, but I was never the most mature. I still would call my mom, mommy, and my dad daddy. But when I said daddy that one time. It did not feel right. It felt hard underneath my tongue.
"What do you mean Mesi". Again he only called me Mesi. "I never lied to you". I wanted to screen, and punch him. I wanted to kill him. He knew that he had lied, but he was too ashamed to admit it.
"You lied to me that night, and I will never forgive you, I hope you and your new perfect children have a good life, and I hope you never see your real kids again!". I scream at him with all my might. I did not hide one thing, I told him what he had done wrong. And I felt good.
Then I ran as fast as I could back to where I lived, passed the strangers that were now living in my house, and locked the door to my room. Then I cried and cried until there was nothing left. I had trusted my dad, but then he still lied to me. Why? Why? did it happen to me? Why?
"Why is sissy mad"? Tiombe askes Azizi. "I think that dad got in a fight with her" Answers Azizi. "Well, I think we should go give her a get well kiss" Tiombe answers. "Okay" agrees Azizi.
I hear a knocking on my door, and I'm thinking, what does my dad want now? "Who is it?" I call out, trying to hide my tears. "Tiombe and Azizi" comes the voice of my little sister. And for some reason, I let them in. "What do you want," I ask, almost mad. "Why are you in my room?".
"We just wanted to give you a get-well kiss". My Tiombe says. "And we wanted to know what's up?" Adds Azizi. "What happened?".
Seeing that they came all the way to my room, just to comfort me, I tell them the story. Starting the day that my father had lied to me, and ending with today. "I just think that dad cannot get away with lying to me". I add. "And I have no idea what to do.
"I know what to do". Says Aziz. "We should call mom".
And for once I agree with him.
