❝In which the girl who feels too much gets close to the boy who wants to feel nothing.❞
━━If one would ask Regulus Black to give his opinion on Alera Abbot, he would unhesitatingly tell you that she was a walking hazard to society.
But in his defenc...

--------------------> THE NIGHT WOVE INTO THE EVENING in a gash of blue and black. Regulus straightened his juxtaposing silver and green tie and cross-checked the pile of materials in his hands to affirm he had everything needed for Astronomy—spare parchments, tools to measure and draw the stars like a divider and compass along with a small tin of cookies.
Having been a student herself only a few years prior, Professor Kelsie allowed them to bring treats and drinks to class and eat as long as it didn't distract them from their work. Normally, Regulus wasn't one to eat during class, even if it was allowed, but given the awful Divination class he attended earlier that day, he felt like he deserved it.
As if seconding the unvoiced opinion, Cinnamon chirped from where it stood on his shoulder like it was a pedestal, waving its long, tiny arms as if it was congratulating Regulus for surviving so far.
A smile fleeted across Regulus' features like a comet trailed the sky. "Thanks, bud," he said and stepped into the Astronomy tower.
Students scattered around the room, lazing on the benches. Iola was there as well, sitting next to her first cousin, Alera Abbott, instead of saving a seat for him. Usually, Regulus and Iola would walk to the tower and sit together. Then, Cinnamon entered the picture so Iola promptly exited it.
Frowning faintly, Regulus approached them. Iola immediately stiffened upon spotting Cinnamon and shuffled closer towards Alera, as if she would protect her from the fearsome creatures that were bowtruckles.
Ignoring Iola, Regulus turned to Alera, who seemed surprised by him willingly appearing in front of her. He noted with distaste that she held a mug of coffee in her hand. "The assignment Professor Mably designated. Let's get it over with as soon as possible. Are you free tomorrow after school?"
Slowly, Alera nodded her head. "I think so, yes."
Regulus curtly nodded. "Meet me in the library."
"Okay," Alera smiled and took a sip of her drink. Just as Regulus was about to leave, Alera called him back. "Wait. Tomorrow's my day with Cinnamon, right?" She glanced at Iola for confirmation, after which she refocused her attention on Regulus. "We don't have any classes together tomorrow but potions, and I don't think Professor Slughorn will allow Cinnamon in a second time. If it's alright, could I please have Cinnamon tonight, after class instead, since your day would already be up by then?"
Regulus frowned as he thought over her request. "I suppose that's not unreasonable. Okay."
Alera beamed and thanked him, waving hello to Cinnamon while Regulus tossed a glare at Iola for fraternising with the enemy before spinning on his heel to sit beside Rodrick Davis.
When Professor Kelsie swept into the classroom a minute later, she looked at the sky like it had personally offended her. "It's too cloudy tonight," said Professor Kelsie, frowning. "It looks like it might rain as well. We won't be able to see the stars clearly, so I think we'll end the class for today. I might take an extra class later this week to cover your portions, though. You may all leave now."
