That weekend, Iman invites us all for a sleepover at her house.

"My moms asked if you guys want any more snacks?" Iman says walking into the room.

"Nah there's loads here," Zoey says.

Iman joins us on the floor, covered in blankets with mountains of food in the middle.

"Have you guys watched High School Musical the Musical: The Series?" I ask everyone.

"YESSSS OH MY GOD!" Zoey screeches.

"Honestly it's better than the real thing!" Lexi agrees.

"Uhmm I find that so hard to believe, I hate new Disney," Tiffany says.

"Exactly, I'm not watching it cause it will spoil my good memories."

"You guys are honestly missing out, it's sooo good; RICKYYY!" Zoey exclaims.

"Yess RICKYYYY!" Lexi and I chime in.

"You guys make me sick." Tiffany laughs.

"Let's watch it at the ski trip, "Zoey suggests.

"Mmmm maybe," Tiffanys responds.

"Wait Kaiser, did you get a place?" Iman asks.

"Yeah, there were loads of spaces left."

"I think I'll try and really move to Shawn at the ski trip," Lexi says.

"Yeah that's the perfect time to do it," I tell her.

"Should we go shopping for stuff on Sunday?" Iman says.

"Yeah," They all say in agreement.

"I actually have plans that day."

"with Christian?" Lexi asks.

"No with my friend Mason."

"You know Tiffanys' neighbor?" Zoey gasps.

"Yeah..."

"What are you guys doing anyway?" Tiffany says, clearly unimpressed.

"I'm going to his little family day dinner thing."

"What does Christian think about this?" Lexi asks.

"I didn't tell him.."

"Uhmmm, uno he doesn't like Mason right?" Iman says with a worried expression.

"Yeah.."

"Just be careful," Iman warns me.

"what do you mean?"

"Last year, this girl moved school cause she claimed Mason was stalking her," Lexi explains.

"Oh my god, it's not true!" Tiffany interjects.

"Tiff she wouldn't move if it didn't happen, apparently he was completely obsessed with her and wouldn't leave her alone." Lexi continues.

"Maybe she just moved house and people made their own assumptions ." I try to defend Mason.

"She specifically said she moved to be safe," Iman says.

"Can we stop talking about this, oh my god" Tiffany rolls her eyes?

I don't believe them for a moment. Mason would never do that. It's sad that a rumor like that has spread around the school. It makes me a little mad that they brought that up in the first place.

Masons House

As I approach Masons' door I suddenly feel like I'm overstepping my boundaries; I shouldn't have invited myself.

"Come in the doors open!" I look up and see Mason poking his head out a window.

I push the door and the front room is empty. Mason rushes down the stairs.

"I thought your whole family was going to be here?"

"My mom and sister are in the kitchen."

"Where's your dad?"

"He left us when we were little, and moved to England," He explains, guiding me to the kitchen.

We walk in and Masons' mom and his little sister are dancing in the kitchen.

"Oh my god, Kaiser hiii!" His mom says, pausing the music.
She leans in to hug me.
"Hi miss Davis, it's nice to meet you."

"Oh please, don't call me miss Davis, Call me Anne."

His little sister runs up to me, "are your Christians girlfriend? Or are you guys just having coitus?"

"Katie!" Christian scolds her.

"Sorry, she's only 9 but her mouth is way ahead of her," Anne says.

"It's fine."

We sit around his dining table; his moms made the most amazing roast.

"Kaiser, mason tells me you want to do law?"

"Yeah, my mum's a lawyer so I always wanted to follow in her footsteps, what field are you in?"

"Ohhh nothing fancy like a lawyer, I'm a pre-school teacher."

"My moms the smartest person I know, she could've been a college teacher if she wanted." mason interjects.

"Now mason you know I love kids, I couldn't spend the rest of my life with moody teenagers."

"Are you going to Harvard or Yale?" His little sister asks me.

"Umm... Columbia?"

"I thought you were supposed to be smart?"

"Katie!" Her mom glares at her.

"Sorry kaiser, my therapist says I'm impulsive"
Mason rolls his eyes at her.

We finish eating and I help his mom wash the dishes whilst Mason sits in the living room with his little sister.

"Thank you so much, Kaiser." His mom gives me a warm smile.

"Thank you for what?"

"Mason had a really hard time last year and he struggles with his mental health and you make him well better, he's happy when he's with you."

I smile at her.
Mason makes me happy too.

I spend the rest of the night with Mason and his little sister, playing video games and having a good time.
It gets late so I have to go and Mason offers to walk me out.

"Kai, I don't want us to not talk because of Christian."

"Yeah me too"

"I love you." He says hugging me tightly.

My whole world stops. Maybe Mason is good for me; I should be with him not Christian.
