The Mighty Ducks

Semifinals, State finals and an old friend

Today is our game against the Hornets and if we win that game we'll be in the semifinals and if we win the semifinals then we'll be in the state finals, I'm very excited but also nervous for the outcome of the game. I hop out of my bed and get changed ready to leave, before I do, I have a little breakfast then brush my teeth and hair. I look in my mirror and make sure I look presentable before going out the door, as I'm about to lock the door I quickly remember my lucky bracelet my stepfather got me, I race upstairs and grabbed it off of my bedside table stealing a glance at my clock "Oh shoot, I'm going to be late" I run down the stairs and lock the door before running to the car, being careful not to slip over on the ice covered pavement.

Once I got into the stadium and I was all signed in I ran down to the change rooms, I burst into the room causing everyone to look at me in alarm, I look at Coach and say "I'm sorry I'm late, I got a bit behind schedule" he nodded and said "It's alright, Caitlyn, just get changed." I nod and put my bag on the bench near Elka and Grace, quickly I put on all my under gear on, then all my protection and finally my ducks jersey. I sat down and tied up my skates while Coach gave us the game plan and a pep talk. Once everyone was all ready we all went up to the rink and did a bit of a warm up before the game. I looked around the stands to find my parents when I caught a glimpse of a person who I haven't seen in a very long time, an old friend in a way. Jamya Crockett and her family. I make eye contact with her and I smile, she recognises me and waves at me with a smile on her face, I wave back and skate over to Charlie. Jamya, Charlie and I use to be the best of friends before she moved away, we were always the inseparable trio. Well, it was always just Charlie and I but then we met Jamya in the sandpit and suddenly the duo became a trio, until she moved away with her family. "Hey Charlie, do you remember Jamya?" I can see the cogs turning in his head and he slowly nods saying "Yeah, yeah I remember her, why?" I then look back into the crowd and spot her watching us "Well, she's here." Charlie spots who I'm looking at and waves at Jamya, who then enthusiastically waves back, I slightly smirk knowing her secret, she spots me and sends me a playful glare, I roll my eyes laughing. Coach calls us all back in and we all get ready to hear our positions to play in at the start. I'm on the bench though so I don't have to worry much. When I hear the whistle I zone out and don't even realise how far we're into the game until the announcer speaks up saying "The surprising Ducks are still in the game against the Hornets" I see Fulton, Jesse, Coach and Charlie stand up all of a sudden, so I quickly stand up to see what was going on. "Banks moving right in front, stops. He shoots, he scores!" We all cheer for Adam as he skates away with his hands in the air. Coach puts me back on the ice and as soon as I touch the ice I'm shoved over and hear heaps of shouts from my teammates, I look up at the Hornet who shoved me and I skate right over to him and shove him on the ice causing him to fall over, my teammates join me in pushing the Hornets over "It's getting rough out there between the Ducks and the Hornets" I somehow get the puck off of one of the Hornets and I pass it down to Adam once he's near the net. "Here's Adam Banks in the slot. He stops, shoots. He scores!" I get the puck and skate it down the line, but I get cut off by two Hornets players so I pass it back to Averman, hoping he gets it. "Back it goes to Averman. He shoots! Score!" I skate over to Averman with Elka, Connie, Guy and grace and we surround him in a group hug. We won against the Hornets 5-3. "The Ducks win it, 5-3 over the Hornets. And now it's on to the semifinals... where the Ducks will face the Cardinals." We all skate down in a line and shake the Hornets hands saying "Good game."
