Perhaps it all started from there. The time when he was at the kindergarten entrance ceremony. When those reporters surrounded him and Shouto could only panic at that time. It was a time before he got his scar. Reporters here, then cameras flashing there, then don't get him started on the rest of the media.
Enji(Endeavor) didn't do anything about since he said that 'it would be good experience for Shouto when he becomes a pro'. Rei was panicking just as much as Shouto was, but it'd be obvious why she would.
The pressure was a bit too much- no, not a bit. It was a horde. Shouto ran away even though reporters kept asking, "What's it like to finally enter kindergarten?" or "Are you aiming to be a pro someday, too?" He ignored all their questions and ran off to a bench in a nearby park.
Crying, he wished that he was born as someone else. Why did he have to be Endeavor's son? More importantly, why didn't the reporters respect his privacy? He was still a kid. Actually, the question on his mind was really why was he here? Why did he panic? His crying stopped when he heard a bark.
"Rock!" the 'bark' said. Shouto looked up to see a puppy. A strange one, if he had to say so himself. "Ruff!" The puppy had a welcoming look on its face. No hostility. It was like his mom... Unlike his dad.
"Huh?" Shouto mumbled out, wiping his tears. He flinched when the puppy came closer to him. The puppy did look friendly, but it was still a stranger to him. He didn't know what to do. "What the..."
"ROCKRUUUUUUFF!" a voice probably about his age called. The puppy perked up before racing to a girl about Shouto's age. Probably about 4. She wore something that even he wasn't sure if it was okay to wear at this time. In the middle of March, who'd wear a beach dress?
Nonetheless, the girl was... Well, for this age, it'd would've been 'pretty' or 'cute', but really, this girl was beautiful. Good skin, lean figure, beautiful eyes full of curiosity, pixie nose, she didn't look human, no, not human... She didn't even look real. A white beach dress, white beach hat, and sandals, she looked something like a goddess.
The puppy raced towards her happily. It jumped into her arms and she snuggled it like a plush toy. Shouto didn't realize it, but his cheeks flared when he saw the girl. Not only the girl, but her friendship with the puppy, as well. They were so close... Unlike with him and his siblings. He wished that he could be like that with his brothers and sister...
"Hm?" the girl perked when she saw Shouto looking at her. "Oh? Are you lost?" she asked as she sat down next to him on the bench.
Shouto slouched. "N-no..." he answered. "I... I ran away..."
The girl blinked twice in confusion before asking, "Ran away? From what? Who? Why?"
She doesn't really hold back her imagination, huh... Shouto noted mentally. I wonder what it's like to be her for once. To live a life like hers... "From the media..." he answered quietly.
"The media?" the girl repeated. "I...."
She's going to ask me more questions, right? Maybe she'll recognize me... Shouto guessed. He prepared for the worst. Maybe he could withstand this moment.
"I totally get that!" the girl exclaimed. Shouto flinched in confusion. Okay, what? "My mother is a famous researcher and scientist, so everyone back in my hometown never gives me any space," she recalled. "Is your parent a famous person, too?"
Shouto nodded. "Yeah," he answered. "My dad, specifically... He's...." He couldn't bear to say it. He looked down.
"Let me guess," the girl began, "your father is the Flame Hero and the #2 pro hero, Endeavor. He pressures you to become a hero like him, but your mother always stays by your side, right? Then everyone expects you to become a hero like him! Not much choice there in the moment. Heh, if we had similar lifestyles, then we'd be twins!"
