A perfectly Splendid Morning

Beep beep beep...
I slam my hand on the annoying alarm to prolong my much needed beauty sleep. However, as I am a four year med student that is currently in rotations and might potentially be late to said rotation in 45 minutes. I sprung from my cloud like, beautifully made bed and run into the bathroom to get ready. This morning, like the rest, I had to rush my routine trading a full breakfast for a strawberry granola bar, which I'm not mad about as it tasted delicious. I made it out the door and in my car in no later than 30 minutes time "a new record" I thought. I reversed out of the parking space and onto to the street which lead me to ongoing traffic, however. I yelled "why me!" in annoyance as I looked at the excruciating long line of cars ahead of me. Sitting there, in defeat, I began sweating as I thought about the vow I made to the psychiatrist I am currently shadowing. I promised that I would not be late again to my rotations, I am too fear stricken to think about what she would do to me. So I back out of the traffic and looked to my trusty friend maps to find any back roads that will take me to the hospital in 8 minutes. I punched in the hospitals address and thanked god as I found a route that will take me...10 minutes! I am no mathematician but I knew that was 2 minutes too late so I stepped hard on the gas. I am not about to be late this time. I speedily pulled into the hospital parking lot with 1 minute to spare, grabbing my things quickly. I ran and fast I was not as I arrived 10 minutes late. I blame the hell like stairs and the hazardously overcrowded elevator."You're late. Again Atlas, I'm very disappointed." Mrs. Yoland my psychiatrist mentor said. "Hey, you gotta give it to me though, that's 5 minutes less than last time" I said proudly with hint of exhaustion straining my voice. "Despite how many minutes less than last time, you're still late" "Your patient will think the same" Mrs. Yoland said with sternness. I felt defeated as I new Mrs. Yoland was right, again. In a attempt to go around her, she blocked my path and said with an evil glint in her eyes " We will talk about your continuous tardiness later." With that she headed to her office and left a bit of her wicked witch aurora behind. I started quietly stamping my feet and whispering profanities in the hall. After that moment, I collected myself and made my way to the door. I knew the only way to save myself was to give an apology that was worth a standing ovation.
