As I made my way inside the office I saw a male in his mid 20s seated in one of the chairs in front of Mrs. Yoland's desk. The man was petite with a frail appearance, had short brown wavy hair, and a relatively handsome face. As Mrs. Yoland sat down, I went to stand beside her to give the apology. A tradition she adopted when I always came late. Once clearing my disturbingly dry throat and wiping my sweaty hands, a causation of my stage freight, I began. "In life, we face challenges, adversity, and crises. These obstacles are what shape us into the people we are today and without them the fruits of labor would have little meaning. Life is always unexpectedly throwing difficulties in our paths, but it's the way we deal with these difficulties that have significance. Take today for instance, I faced many challenges that made me late this morning. I suffered from excessive drowsiness that made me struggle to get up from bed. However, I knew that I had to get up because a patient was waiting on me and I couldn't let them down. I rushed my morning routine, skipping a shower because I knew you were still waiting. I left my house starving as I knew that food meant nothing to me if I made you wait. I refused to succumb to the evil grips of traffic and found a way around it. Why? Because you are too important! I-" "are you done?" Said Mrs. Yoland. "Not yet" "I ran through the hospital despite almost running an old lady over. Why, you may ask. Because of you!" Slamming her hand on the table,"I think you're quite done Ms. Rearing" Mrs. Yoland said with a hint of venom. Startled by this, I began my closing speech "All this time I thought of you when I was facing all these obstacles because I saw you as my beacon of light; my motivation. However, no matter my intentions this does not accuse my lateness and with that, I'm sorry." The patient looking quite baffled, accepted the apology. I nodded with a solemn look but was secretly imagining me being congratulated by an audience in my head. After my moment, I moved toward a chair in the back of the office. After Mrs. Yoland saw I finally situate could have sworn I saw her say "thank god." I must have just been my imagination as I have a quite vivid one, in mid thought I didn't notice Mrs. Yoland began the appointment. I grabbed my notebook and pen ready to take pointers.
